STAR ACTRESS EUCHARIA ANUNOBI TURNS EVANGELIST

Popular Nollywood and somewhat controversial actress Eucharia Anunobi is back in the news. The actress whose whereabouts and activities have remained the staple of countless rumours and gossips, has come out to clear the air on what she’s been up to recently.

Eucharia, who has over a hundred movies to her credit, in a telephone chat with Nigerian Entertainment Today, revealed that she has been deeply immersed in work in the Lord’s vineyard as an evangelist.

She however debunked the tabloid rumours suggesting she is a pastor as she has not been ordained yet. ‘I am an evangelist but I am not an ordained pastor yet. I believe it is a gradual process. I had actually been a born-again Christian who got the altar call even before Glamour Girls, about 17 years ago’, Eucharia told NET.

The veteran actress further stated that she’s presently studying for her Master’s degree in Social Works at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo and is overseeing her very many business interests within the country. She has stated that she would continue to appear in movies except where they directly ‘contradict her conscience’ and would definitely be saying no to act nude scenes if the offer to do so comes her way.

‘U.K’ as she is fondly called by friends and fans made her Nollywood debut with ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’ (Part II) and shot to stardom with ‘Glamour Girls’ (Part II) in 1996.

I’m now FRSC’s Celebrity Special Marshal – Nigeria musician Sunny Neji. Recently, Nigeria musician Sunny Nneji alongside many other celebrities was selected as a Celebrity Special Marshal of the FRSC and shortly after that, he addressed his fans by saying:

“I’m now a FRSC CELEBRITY SPECIAL MARSHAL…..with all the powers of a federal road safety corps officer…..that means I can arrest and impound your vehicle if you break any driving rule. The rules are: no phone calls or pinging while driving, don’t drive under the influence of alcohol, always wear your seatbelt and observe all road signs. Please let’s learn to respect other road users by driving carefully because safer roads mean fuller lives…..E GO BETA!!!!”

Today, Nollywoodgossip ran into him and asked him to shed more light on being a Celebrity Special Marshal and below is what he told Live Online With Delia.

Please could you tell us what the FRSC is all about?

FRSC is a Federal road Safety Commission. This is just our little contribution to the country. We are not paid, so it’s not a position where we have to leave what we are doing for. It’s like a charity work for the people where we help to educate and encourage the people to keep the driving rules.

So the work is all about whenever you can. Anywhere you are and there is traffic or people are not keeping to the driving rules, you can help to educate them, and in some cases, make them (if you have to) to keep to the rules. It does not matter where you are in any part of the country, which is why it’s called Federal road safety. Purpleworld Entertainment wishes Sunny and the other Celebrity Special Marshals God’s wisdom in their new job.

FACEBOOK TO GO PUBLIC

No that’s not an oxymoron but a potential move that is worth billions. Everyone’s favourite social networking site (note the sarcasm please) is apparently all set to go public, that is, make an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Floating itself on the stock exchange, the possible move may ring to the tune of almost $100 billion (£63 million) potentially making it the biggest consumer technology public offering in history.

Rumours of Facebook going public have been kicking around for a while, but according to recent news, the move may just be sooner than expected with some sources saying it could happened by the first quarter of next year or even this December. While Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg has been notably mum on the subject, LinkedIn founder, Reid Hoffman, who has a considerable stake in Facebook, said that the move is a go.

“I suspect that Mark (Zuckerberg) will choose to go public because the company has to put in a lot of financial work in order to make the necessary filings and so he might as well make sure he benefits employees and ultimately the company from the level of work that’s already involved,” Hoffman said in an interview, adding,

“Going public would benefit Facebook in lots of ways - namely having public currency to do acquisitions. So Mark (Zuckerberg) might as well get the benefit as well as the cost. Given that logic - I would suspect that some time in first half of next year, he will engage in the IPO process.”

But in an interview last month, Zukcerber did opine that if his company did go public it would be in order to reward staff with “equity and options,” because this would help Facebook retain its talent. N. Venkatraman, a business professor at Boston University explains that this move is to retain its talent, “Especially those engineers who received restricted stock that could only be sold after the IPO. Facebook's vision of creating a social layer across online and offline is bold and big, but that vision requires talented engineers who can rapidly create powerful functionality to interconnect the various activities of 1 billion-plus members”

At present, being a private company, Facebook is limited to just 500 stakeholders by law but is under pressure from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to reveal the stakeholders it has on the secondary market. The SEC has given the company an April, 2012 deadline and it is expected that around that time, Facebook will make its initial offering. Speculation has been rife as to the valuation of Facebook but since the Goldman Sachs valuation last year, it is expected that Facebook would be bracketed somewhere around $80-100 billion, even though this past year has been quite a financial dud.

STAR ACTOR YEMI SOLADE IN BIG MESS: ACCUSED OF HARASSING MARRIED WOMAN

A U.S based married woman, Bunmi Ladipo is claiming that Nollywood star Yemi Solade is harassing her sexually by sending her his n*d* pictures after turning down his advances.

According to sources, the lady in question said their relationship started about a month ago when the actor sent her a friend request on Facebook. “I accepted the friend request because I could recognize him as an actor and I didn’t envisage he would later turn out to constitute a nuisance.”

The lady said Yemi started making passes at her and she bluntly told him that she was happily married to which the actor was said to have responded it’s no big deal because he is also married. To buttress her point, Mrs. Ladipo said she has a recording of their telephone conversation and might be forced to release a graphic image of his partially er*ct*d JT.

Denying the claim, Yemi Solade said it was the lady in question that was actually harassing him and got upset when he removed her from his friends list on the social network.

“She is simply a fraudster. She lied to me that she is a lawyer in U.S, but with the way she was speaking, it is obvious that she is not one. She had been disturbing me on Facebook and bb (blackberry) until I deleted her. I’m sure that is why she is saying all these.

“I’m an actor and can take pictures without wearing a shirt or just with boxer shorts, so what she is saying is irrelevant. Even if I want a relationship, there are many ladies here in Nigeria that I could date, not someone like her. I don’t want to join issues with a faceless person like her, so let’s forget it. I don’t even know her.”

Meanwhile, the embittered lady has consulted some women advocate organizations in Nigeria who are currently making efforts to make sure that justice is done to the case.

“I have also called my lawyer in Nigeria, so he would take it up from there,” she said.

She added that “when I informed him that I will expose him, he said people will not believe me because he is a star. He said people will rather believe his own words, not mine. And since then, he posted on his facebook page that I’m a scammer. Well, he will face the music soon because I will be in Nigeria soon as well.”
