Harry potter & the Deathly hallows: Part 2 has passed the 1billion dollars (609 million pounds) mark at the worldwide box office, distributor Warner Bros has said. Warner Bros said Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will soon overtake Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The fourth of Johnny Depp's films in the Pirates franchise has taken £626m. Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the eighth film about the young wizard, has already set a record within the Harry Potter series.
The £607m beats the previous best global haul of £594m that was set up by the original film: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. But factoring in current higher admission prices, the latest film has not caught up with Philosopher's Stone in terms of actual tickets sold.
