Fans on facebook were amazed to wake up to the new name, even though the actress denied having any marriage plans for now.

Meanwhile, Nollywoodgossip just received a copy of Alex O’s marriage certificate which shows that he is married.

The question is still, does Oby know that Alex O is still legally married?

RACISM IN SOCCER BECOMES A HUGE PROBLEM FOR JOHN TERRY

Since the long history of English soccer, it is the first time that a player is being put on trial over words spoken on the field. On Wednesday, prosecutors revealed that one of the most famous players in English soccer, John Terry racially battered a rival during an October match.

Furthermore, Terry who captains Chelsea and England’s national team was initially fined $4,000. Luis Suarez, Liverpool’s striker was fined $62,000 and an 8 match ban for racially abusing a Manchester United player during a game in October. FIFA has a mixed record on this matter.

Previously, FIFA has also initiated an anti racism campaign but recently its president, Mr. Sepp Blatter claimed that racism doesn’t exit on the playing field. Adding further, he said that any incident may be settled by a handshake when the match ends.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Prosecutors settled to indict Terry after carefully examining his video in which he apparently abused defender Anton Ferdinand. The match was viewed by soccer fans from around the world.

Prosecutors affirmed that the football player had committed a racially provoked public order offense. While speaking in his defense, Terry said that he never intended a racist comment at any player. Adding further, he said that people close to him are from diverse races and creeds. He also said that he will try his best to prove his innocence.

No comments have been made by Ferdinand regarding this issue. FIFA has said that before passing any ruling, it will wait for the police investigation to be finished.

In a statement, the chief crown prosecutor for London, Mr. Alison Saunders said that the police has carefully examined the footage and has gathered ample evidence for a rational prospect of conviction.

Furthermore, Terry is expected to appear at West London Magistrates’ court on 1st February 2012.As a result of this case, Terry’s image and career is at stake. If the star football player is found guilty, he may not be able to represent England at the upcoming European Championship.

PRINCE WILLIAM'S CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR KATE MIDDLETON - CUTE PUPPY?

There is going to be one hell of a lucky canine this holiday season. Very soon, he may be getting to frolic around with the British royals, especially his mistress Kate Middleton.

NBC’s Today Show on Thursday spoke about speculation being rife as to what gift Prince William will be presenting his new bride Kate for Christmas. The general agreement at this point in time, seems to be that Duchess of Cambridge will be getting a puppy.

It may be noted that in August, 2011; William’s father Prince Charles and step mom Duchess Camilla had taken home a Jack Russell Terrier puppy. They had adopted Beth from the Battersea Dogs Home in London.

Not to be left behind even the British Monarch Elizabeth is an animal lover. The 85-year-old royal is a proud owner of several Corgis which she has adopted since the past fifty years.

As per the royal itinerary and traditionally too, 29-year old Catherine Middleton will be required to spend her first Christmas, as a royal, with William's entire family at the Sandringham House. This massive Manor is Queen Elizabeth's holiday retreat in Norfolk, England.

A royal inside source informs that sans royal aides, parents or siblings by her side, the Duchess of Cambridge will learn very quickly that this is unlike any Christmas she has celebrated so far. It may be noted that none of Prince William’s in-laws have been invited for the festivity.

However, later on Kate and husband William, will be spending some time with the Middletons, as well. According to the source Pippa, 28, will be joining her sister on Dec. 26, 2011 for Boxing Day in Sandringham.

After which the trio Kate, William and Pippa will be traveling back together to Middleton’s home in Bucklebury. There they will be spending the remaining days of Christmas with the other family members of Kate Middletons’ family.

Moot point is will all the love and affection showered on an innocent puppy, help William and Catherine to prepare for parenthood someday?

Meanwhile, will the gift of a puppy be an excellent gift from Prince William to his wife for Christmas? And in case yes, then what kind of dog do you think will suit Kate and Will the best?

BANS EAR RINGS WEARING PLAYERS FROM CAMP... STEPHEN KESHI

Stephen Keshi has warned ear-ring wearing members of the Super Eagles to dispense with that habit or risked being dropped from the team.

The coach, who contended that such attitude did not reflect well on moral and mental discipline, said wearing ear rings would counter his intended new and purposeful identity of the team.

“If we were Indians, I would understand, because it’s part of their culture but wearing ear rings by men is alien to Nigeria and no player is permitted here to wear them,” ordered the Eagles coach, who succeeded Samson Siasia after Nigeria failed to qualify for the Nations Cup for the first time in 25 years.

It follows then that the likes of Skipper Joseph Yobo, Osaze Odemwingie, Victor Anichebe, Chibuzor Okonkwo, Peter Utaka, Brown Ideye, Dele Adeleye and out-of- favour Obafemi Martins will have to do away with their trade mark-use of their expensive jewelleries- if they are call up to camp by Keshi in January.

Keshi, who harped on discipline and warned against playing to the gallery, said he would tolerate any act capable of misrepresenting the image and posture of the team.

“We’re in for serious business, because we want to return our country to the top and any player not ready would be shown the exit door. I will not quarrel with any player but anyone who flouts camp rules should pack his bag and leave the camp before I react negatively,” he warned.

Peoples Daily Sports recalls that Keshi is not the first national team coach to insist on proper grooming as several players like Eric Contona, Nicolas Anelka among others have lost opportunities to represent their countries because their national coaches insisted on their doing away with weird hairstyles.

Besides, Emmanuel Adebayor had to trim his bushy hairdo to comply with Jose Mourinho’s demand before he could lace boots for Real Madrid.

FAST RISING ACTRESS CHITA AGWU GETS NEW RIDE

Her name may not readily ring a bell but she is one of the latest sensations in the movie industry.

The good news coming from this beautiful mother-of-1 stable is her latest acquisition,a brand new Volkswagen Bug.

The accident occurred on the Ore-Benin Expressway, while the actress and 2 others were driving back to Lagos from a movie location in Asaba, Delta State.

The car ran into a ditch, although the car was badly damaged, the 3 occupants miraculously survived.

26YRS OLD NIGERIAN, OLUTOSIN ODUWOLE SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON IN THE US FOR TERRORIST THREAT

A 26yr old Nigerian, Olutosin Oduwole, was on Wednesday December 21, sentenced to five years in prison in Madison County, for writing what prosecutors say was a note demanding money and threatening a Virginia Tech-like killing spree.

A jury convicted the former Southern Illinois University student in October of attempting to make a terrorist threat and unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon.

The judge sided with jurors in dismissing Oduwole's claim that he was an aspiring rapper, and that the threatening words were innocent lyrical musings. He was sentenced to five years on the threat charge and a year on the weapons charge to be served concurrently.

The threat note was found in Tosin's abandoned car by cops in July 2007, just a few months after the Virginia Tech massacre. The writing demanded payment to a PayPal account, threatening "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

The aspiring rapper insisted in court that he "did not mean to incite fear. That was never my intention. That is not my character." But he failed to convince the court the writing was innocent lyrics and other musings. Also, unfortunately for him, when they searched his on-campus dorm when he was arrested, cops found a loaded gun.

NIGERIAN MEN HATE 'GBABES' AND 'BLACKBERRY BEGGARS'

Let the record reflect that just because we find some of these unattractive- does not mean we will not attempt to sleep with you. Sleeping with you is a different ball game when compared with attraction.

The two are not mutually exclusive!

1. Desperados!

These are the sort of girls that you find at every party, in every bar or night club. And if you’re confused; here are some pointers. They are wearing thick make up, chewing violently on fake gums and standing ALONE clutching unto their little purses! So we can already tell that they either don’t have cars or they didn’t come with anybody they could trust enough to hold their bags. Desperados don’t want to dance of course; except you have a striking age resemblance with their dads back in the village or if you’ve got a tommy to remind them of theirs’ before they got an abortion. But not dancing doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate drinks!

‘Can I buy you a drink?’ “Of course”.

And while you do; she pretends to receive a call in front of a loud speaker!

Listen I’m not saying there’s anything wrong in being bought a drink for; but women who act as though they are entitled to a man’s wallet have got to go! It’s unattractive and it’s downright classless!

2. Blackberry Beggars.

How a classy lady can turn from her ‘whatever’ attitude before you got her PIN to posting sad and teary icons on her blackberry profile, beats me. I mean come on girls; whatever happened to your pride? I know you’re broke- but must the world know? Do you have to post all your problems to the new dude?

But I trust my Naija guys to say-

‘Eeyaa! It shall be well!’

Jokes apart; one thing is certain; if he helps you with some money, he does so out of pity- which is not something you want a man dating you to feel for you. He should feel respect for you; so please respect yourselves. If a man starts giving you money immediately after meeting you, please don’t go running to your gossipy friends 6 months later to tell them how wicked men are. He’s just recouped his investment dividends for 6 months! And if you must tell them; please start such stories with how greedy you were.

3. Gbabes:

Granted that most of us want girls who have Indian blood running in their veins; but we’re not stupid enough to know that we can’t all have that. Gbabes are girls whose hairs remind me of the psychiatric hospital opposite my church!

I know you can’t all afford to wear the expensive lace wigs and Brazilian hair that Omotola or Patience Jonathan wears- but why not thank God for the Aba boys? They have made some extension braids and ‘Brazilian hair’ affordable for peanuts…

4. Unkempt Private Areas:

*Hums* “Sometimes I shave my legs sometimes I don’t’. That’s cool and all but I’m going to need you to shave under your arms and the other place (you know where.) I am not scared of using the P word but this is a family friendly website- and I’m sure you get the gist. We may be bush men here in Nigeria, but please give yourself an edge up by keeping it like a well-manicured lawn rather than like a jungle safari in the middle of Niger Delta!

5. Loud Mouths:

Some girls know all the lyrics of all the tracks in Terry G’s or Wizkid’s Album. I once danced with a girl who took me through Timaya’s discography while wearing a smile. She even knew what the upcoming tracks were! Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s all good.

But what’s not good is that the Naija guy, you’re dancing with or rapping at, has already formed an opinion of you! You’re a loudmouth in his head. And you seriously can’t fault him for this assumption.

What the average Nigerian who wants to have something serious with you- thinks about is; “what will my people say about this girl?”

Truth is; if I can’t bring you home to momma we can’t roll. I can’t stand a woman whose every word is a curse; mothereffer this, son of a —– that et cetera. Kindly have at least; an ounce of class and act like a lady not an Obalende conductor!

Peace out and love to Nigerian ladies, I think you’re all beautiful. These observations are not meant to offend any of you; but a little dose of ‘keeping it real’ is always healthy.

Cote d'Ivoire and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has won the 2011 African Footballer Award. Toure who won off stiff opposition from Seydou Keita and Andrew Ayew was all full of happiness.

Among them was the winner against bitter rivals Manchester United in an FA Cup semi-final and the sole goal against Stoke City in the final that ended a long City trophy drought.

MAJID MICHEL AND JACKIE APPIAH PREDICTED TO WIN GHANA MOVIE AWARDS 2011

In any movie award scheme in the world there are a lot of categories to award industrial players and people who have contributed to the Awards. Out of all the Categories the attention is always on the Best Actor and Actress for lead roles since those awards are classified as the Top most awards.

We at NigeriaFilms.Com have decided to watch some of the movies Nominated in the top most (Ghana Movie )awards that we have access to and the ones that we don’t we’ve managed to pass our judgment based on the trailers and the few scenes we have seen.

After going through the criteria for the top awards we think Majid Michel will find his category very easy since he really put up great acting skills for the first time in the history of his movie Career.

But to the female’s side which after enough polls put Jackie on top, yet we don’t believe it is going to be easy for her since Yvonne Okoro also put up a very good performance in the movie titled “Why Marry”

Many critics who helped in coming up with this poll placed Yvonne Okoro as the second possible Actress to win the award if Jackie Appiah doesn’t win it .

We would like to wish good luck to all of the contenders.

MY FATHER ADVISED ME TO MARRY SOMEBODY THAT IS TALLER THAN ME... COMEDIAN JULIUS AGWU (PHOTOS)

It might interest to you know that it is one of the precious qualities I love about her,the fact that she is taller than myself. My father advised me to marry somebody that is taller than me,so that I won’t make the same mistake he made.

The joy of it is the fact that I have a song where I was educating people not to underrate small people. So,many of us who are diminutive are good men.

For Instance, the Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank, who is also a graduate of UNIPORT.He made first class. He’s short but that doesn’t stop him from being a great man.

I did a song with M.I, Jesse Jagz entitled Brief Big Men (BBM) where I was praising short people.

The truth is I enjoy people say my wife is taller because it will help my children to be tall,so that people won’t start calling my generation, short.

Great things come in small packaging. El-Rufai, Nuhu Ribadu, Adams Oshiomole, etc are brief but they are intelligent and brilliant.

IT'S OFFICIAL! THE 10 BEST MOVIES OF 2011

Compiling the ten best films of the year is not as easy as this list reads. It’s just ten films right, how hard could it be? It can be hard work depending on what kind of movie year it was. The year might have been rife with great movies that it makes it almost impossible picking out ten to call the very best. Or the year might have been choked up with terrible movies that you’d have to examine through a microscope to pick out the good ones.

While this year had quite a number of films playing to packed cinema houses (always a good sign for the industry),we soon realised that a film scoring a great cinema opening does not particularly guarantee great viewing.

We pick out five of the year’s best films and another five worthy of note. Hoping the New Year will be better.

5)Aramotu

Scored big at the Africa Movie Academy Awards where it emerged the best Nigerian film. Aramotu is part history, part fiction and part myth – it tells the story of a young woman who has to pay the ultimate price for being far ahead of her time. Newcomer, Idiat Shobande in the titular lead proves that with the right direction, even green horns can take on complicated roles and shine.

4)Mirror Boy

Obi Emelonye’s Pan-African adventure about love, redemption, and self-discovery features a cast headed by Africa’s sweetheart, Genevieve Nnaji and was set in Gambia. An unusual and unpredictable story, Mirror Boy goes to areas uncharted by Nollywood films and the producer’s effort deserves acknowledgement.

3) Two Brides and a Baby

Teco Benson directs Stella Damasus, O.C Ukeje and Kiera Howatch in this story of love, revenge and forgiveness. While the movie is quite short on laughs, it is a shinning example of how much can be gotten out of little when proper attention to technical detail is paid.

2) The Return of Jenifa

We may have given this film an apathetic review upon release earlier in the year but it has emerged the feel good movie of the year, thanks to Funke Akindele’s winning performance as the foolish but lovable heroine, Jenifa. The laughs come fast and hard and it will take the most stoic of viewers to resist the pitch perfect comic timing of Akindele. If there was a funnier movie released this year, we must have missed it.

1) Tango with me

The happiest day for a young couple is turned into a nightmare when they are attacked by armed robbers and the virginal bride is raped. Where do we start from? The acting? Genevieve Nnaji sizzles through every scene and Joseph Benjamin keeps up with her at every turn. Tina Mba plays a formidable boss and Bimbo Manuel’s role as marriage counselor is faultless. The screenplay is divine and the lights, sound, picture were just as good as it gets. Add in Mahmood Ali Balogun’s thoughtful directing to the mix and the end result is, put simply, the best film of the year. Mature and thought-provoking, if you missed it, you are on a long thing.

They could have been contenders…

Kiss & Tell- From Emem Isong’s Royal Arts Academy comes a romantic comedy that was quite funny but not very well made. More attention to detail and it would have landed atop our lists. But for now, we’ll just let it simmer here.

Mr and Mrs- The fabulous Nse-Ikpe Etim and the ultra smooth Joseph Benjamin lock horns in this little- seen but delightful romp. It could have been so much more though.

Ghetto Dreamz- The end result might have been a disappointing mess but at least their hearts were in the right places so we’ll give them an ‘A’ for effort. For every disastrous casting decision like Doris Simeon, the producers made up with a Rachel Oniga or Gabriel Afolayan.

Memories of my heart- Stars Ini Edo, Ramsey Nouah, Nse- Ikpe Etim and Monalisa Chinda. If you’re not sold yet, then you probably never will be.

Sinking Sands- Technically, this is a Ghanian film but our Yemi Blaq co-stars so we’ll just claim it. A psychological drama that stars Jimmy jean Louis and current AMAA best actress winner, Ama k. Abebrese. Powerful!

EX-BBA STAR,UTI UWACHUKWU OPENS UP ON HIS NEW FOUND LOVE,ACTING + ALLEGED ROMANCE ISSUES

Uti Uwachukwu,2010 Big Brother Africa winner has continued to loom large after his reign.Just recently he featured alongside Eku Edewor,a presenter on Studio 53 Extra in the television commercial held at the Radisson Blu Victoria Island for Martini Wine.He is also a presenter of Jara TV Programme on DSTV.

A lot has been written and reported about him but last week he bared his mind on his new found love acting.

I am currently working on a movie,I have done over 35 movies this year alone. I did a movie with Ini Edo and others.Weekend Get away was star studded. I featured alongside Ramsey Nouah,Genevieve Nnaji,Monalisa Chinda, Brayan Okpara, Beverly Naya, Ini Edo, Uru Eke,Alex Ebubor etc.

I did another with Tonto Dikeh and others. My musical video just won an award hopefully by the 2nd quarter of next year, the album should be coming out.It will be different from what we have here in Nigeria in terms of songs.

Movie for me started when I was young, I have never seen myself as an office guy. I love the whole thing that comes with acting, there is nothing better than getting paid for what you enjoy doing.

On alleged romance issues,he said I keep a few friends around me, infact I can’t even be responding to all those stories.I have been linked with several people I don’t even know; as my girlfriends and even sugar mummy. I keep my private life away from the press so all these things are fairy tales.

How can I person be doing all that? I have also invested wisely with the money I got as my cash prize from Big Brother Africa.

HIGH SEA DRAMA: EDDIE UGBOMA, OMOTOLA JALADE STRANDED ON ATLANTIC OCEAN

Omotola and Alloysius on Location
An high sea disaster was avoided during the week when legendary producer Eddie Ugboma and star actress, Ominous Jalade-Ekeinde were left stranded on the Atlantic ocean.

The duo who were on the movie set of Teco Benson were left stranded and floating for more than three hours in the speed boat conveying the cast and crew from the Atlas Cove where they’d gone for shooting.

”It was indeed a twist of fate because, we’d actually gone to shoot some scenes for the movie ‘Blood On The River’ and there we were stranded on the Atlantic ocean”, disclosed Eddied Ugboma.

Narrating the genesis of the problem, the Delta State producer who stars as Omotola’s father in the new movie flick, said “the boat man didn’t realise he hadn’t enough diesel in the boat until we were mid-way on the Atlantic.

Suddenly the engine stopped right in the middle of the sea and we were left stranded. As the boat man made frantic effort to reach his colleagues, our boat stayed adrift for three hours”. Continuing, Eddie said “as we prayed for God’s intervention, the boat drifted towards the water front of the America Embassy.

And that was when we sensed trouble. The security men threatened us with guns because they thought we were pirates. My brother, it was God’s intervention that saved us from being shot at.” Finally he added, “the boatman’s colleague then brought in diesel and we were able to conclude our journey”

MICHEAL BLOOMBERG IS DELIGHTED AS NEW YORK WELCOMES 50 MILLION TOURISTS

With New York set to meet its target of 50 million tourists a year shortly, the Mayor Michel Bloomberg is delighted. He should be because in 2006, when the footfalls were less than 43 million, he had taken the challenge to get it increased to at least 50 million – and he has achieved his goal. It is expected to be 50.2 million by the end of 2011.

What this means in terms of revenue is astounding – more guests in hotels, more shoppers in the stores, more people visiting the museums and other places of interest , more revenue from taxes and, most importantly, more jobs.
