Court Ordered NDLEA To Release Baba Suwe By Friday

The latest news about Yoruba Actor Babatunde Omidina aka Baba Suwe is that an Ikeja high court has ordered NDLEA to release him by Friday if he doesn’t excrete the suspected hard drug. While giving her ruling, Justice Yetunde Idowu of Ikeja High Court said:

“The only thing hindering me from releasing the applicant today is because of the Federal High Court order of 20 October. I don’t want to meddle with that order. But if he (applicant) does not excrete the suspected substance he is accused of harbouring in his stomach by Friday, NDLEA should release him on bail”.

She set a bail of N500,000 on Baba Suwe with 2 sureties in similar sum, and additional ordered that his int’l passport be deposited with the High Court Chief Registrar.

Just after Twenty days and nights in NDLEA custody, the officers presented the arrested Nollywood star Babatunde Omidina aka Baba Suwe at an Ikeja High court in Lagos today. The popular Yoruba comedian was excited with overwhelming support from his fans and fellow Nigerian Actors who came to witness the courtroom proceedings.

On Oct 12, 2011, Baba Suwe was caught and detained by NDLEA on suspicions of cocaine intake at the Murtala Muhammed Int’l Airport in Lagos while getting ready to board a flight enroute Paris. Baba suwe later sued NDLEA for illegal detention and requested a total sum of N1 billion naira in damages.
