Last night, Juvenile took over SOB's in New York City, New York to perform hits from his catalogue and celebrate the release of his new mixtape Nino The Magnificent.

During the show, Juvie ripped through some of his bigger cuts including "Ha" and "Back Dat Azz Up," captured on film by Pow-TV.

The New Orleans, Louisiana native is currently prepping the release of his new album Rejuvenation, tentatively set for a June 19th release. The LP has already spawned the single "Power" featuring Rick Ross, and is slated to feature a guest appearance from Drake.

Justin Bieber says he only raps for fun, plans on working with Drake, Pharrell Williams, and 40.

With news of pop star Justin Bieber tapping into his inner rapper for his next single “Girlfriend” on top of the singer freestyling on various radio shows there’s been lots of talk about Bieber as a rapper. But in a feature in Complex magazine the singer cleared up the rap rumors explaining that he does it merely “for fun.”

“I just rap for fun. It’s nothing to take seriously,” Bieber explained to Complex. “On my new album, I’m going to do a little bit of rapping.”

While Bieber may only rap for fun he still has plans on working with several Hip Hop artists in the studio including producer Pharrell Williams and rapper Drake. 

“We’re talking to Benny Blanco, Bei Maejor, Mike Posner. We’re going to work with Pharrell...and Bruno Mars. He’s going in with Drake and 40 next week,” said Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun.

Braun also explained that Bieber pits himself against the late singer Michael Jackson when it comes to setting the bar.

“He’s competitive with Michael Jackson. When he looks at who he should chase and who’s setting the bar, we only talk about Michael Jackson. We talk about Michael probably every other day,” Braun revealed.

The interview with Bieber will be featured in the April/May 2012 issue of Complex.

DRAKE FILES OFFICIAL RESPONE TO "MARVIN'S ROOM" LAWSUIT

UPDATE #2: Drake counters a lawsuit claiming that he owes a woman money for use of her voice on "Marvin's Room."

According to an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, a woman claiming to be Drake’s ex-girlfriend and the inspiration for “Marvin’s Room” is suing the YMCMB rapper for co-writing royalties on the song.

Ericka Lee, who is credited in the liner notes of “Marvin’s Room” as a vocalist under the name “Syren Lyric Muse,” believes she is entitled to a larger share of the song’s royalties. Lee filed her initial claim in July of 2011, and was met by a counterclaim from Cash Money/Universal Records roughly six weeks later. According to Lee’s suit, she believes her “contribution is highly significant to the overall work.”

“Drake allegedly agreed to work with Lee on ‘Marvin’s Room’ and split the proceeds,” writes Eriq Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter. “Lee says she was asked to record the song’s ‘hook’ as well as the opening monologue that would serve as the thematic framework for a song about Drake’s yearning for an ex-girlfriend and how his fame interfered with his love life.”

Lee also claims she was offered a $50,000 payment along with 4-5% of the song’s royalties after threatening Drake with legal action prior to filing her lawsuit. “Marvin’s Room” peaked at the number 21 spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 singles chart.

UPDATE: Yesterday (February 3), a spokesperson for Drake told The Los Angeles Times' "Pop & Hiss" column that there is no merit to Erick Lee's claims. "This claim is entirely without merit and our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct. Ericka Lee consented to the use of her voice in the song 'Marvin’s Room' prior to its release. Lee asked only for the credit she received as 'Syren Lyric Muse,' and she did not ask for any compensation," said the Drake camp yesterday. "It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment. Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court."

UPDATE #2: According to TMZ, Drake has filed an official response to Ericka Lee's lawsuit that claims he owes her compensation for use of her voice on "Marvin's Room." In the filing, Drizzy says he never promised to pay her any money, and that "she consented to the use of her voice in the song 'Marvin’s Room' for no compensation." He also denied having a romantic relationship with Lee, and denis threatening her for filing her initial complaint. A judge is yet to rule on the matter.

BIRDMAN HOPES TO RELEASE 16 ALBUMS ON CASH MONEY IN 2012

Birdman explains that he wants to cross genre lines.

Birdman has high hopes for 2012. During an interview with XXLMag.com, the Cash Money Records CEO revealed that he’s looking to release 16 albums of different genres on YMCMB this year, including full-length LPs from Nicki Minaj, Bow Wow, Lil Twist and Limp Bizkit.

“I think bringing Fred and Limp Bizkit to the team gives us a different look,” he said. “We dominate rap, but we’re also trying to grow in different areas; Pop, rock, gospel, country.”

Baby emphasized his vision to expand Cash Money beyond Hip Hop boundaries. He recently revealed plans to for Limp Bizkit on the imprint, a move that puts them in rock territory.

“We’re a brand and we don’t want to be categorized as one type of brand,” he said. “I think we’re a machine and we activate and were active as a machine. I thought this Limp Bizkit move would be big for us as a brand and a machine.”

DMX DOES NOT LIKE DRAKE, IS NOT IMPRESSED BY RICK ROSS

DMX says Jay-Z tried to get rid of him and adds that he doesn't like Drake. He also shares that he is not impressed by Rick Ross.

In a recent interview, DMX was candid about his feelings towards several emcees. The New York rapper shared that he feels Jay-Z tried to "eliminate the competition" during his time as Def Jam President. He also explained that he does not like Drake or "anything about Drake" and that he is not impressed by Rick Ross.

When speaking about Jay-Z, X said that he feels he wasn't treated fairly by Def Jam when Jigga was the head of the label.

"I see what's really good. You trying to eliminate the competition. At first you retire, then get me off the label and now you're back rapping again," he added as a guest on The Breakfast Club. "That was just some bullshit. You know what it is. That was getting rid of the competition."

Later, he was open about his feelings towards Rick Ross. X shared that he is not impressed and added that he feels Ross' subject matter is not diverse.

"I'm just not impressed," he said when a radio personality inquired about Rick Ross' lyrical skills. "He's aight, man. He talks about eating and girlfriends too much. How much can a nigga eat? How much weed can you smoke? Let's talk about something else...I see a whole 'nother side of the coin, son."

He was then asked if he liked Drake, to which he replied with a simple, "No." He then went further by saying he doesn't like anything about the Young Money emcee.

"No," he confirmed. "I don't like anything about Drake. I don't like his fucking voice. I don't like what he talks about. I don't like his face. I don't like the way he walks. Nothing."

An emcee he was complimentary towards was J. Cole, saying "J. Cole is nice." X also confirmed that he's on a new reality show with his ex-wife. He then added that he still drinks and smokes but says that he's not doing "hard" drugs. DMX also shared that he does not know how to use a computer and that he's not a fan of Twitter.

COMMON CONFIRMS HE SQUASHED BEEF WITH DRAKE AT GRAMMY AWARDS

Common also assures that the beef did not stem from Drake dating Serena Williams.

Common previously revealed that the beef with Drake had ended, but the two hadn't bumped into one another until the 2012 Grammy Awards. Though rumors floated around that the rappers engaged in a scuffle backstage at the award show, Com says that they used the face-to-face opportunity to patch up their differences, explaining that he's got nothing but love for the Young Money emcee.

"We had a talk, we had a conversation. It was a face-to-face, man-to-man, a positive thing. It was a good conversation. I’ve learned to respect him even more. I already thought he was a talented guy, but just from the conversation we had, I hold even more respect for him," he said during an interview with Cabbie Richards. "We saw each other and the conversation was initiated. It was just a respectful conversation that needed to be had, so he knew that I’m not at him trying to destroy him as a human being. It was a Hip Hop battle to me. I had to put all of those things into Hip Hop... I gave him a pound, gave him a boom and it was all love."

He also denied that the beef stemmed from Drake dating his ex-girlfriend Serena Williams. Though he admits that many fights begin because of relationship faux pas, the Chicago, Illinois emcee says that it stemmed from Drizzy taking shots at him.

"Nah, it wasn’t about Serena. First of all, that is a past situation. The battle is over, it’s all love. But it was more based on the fact that I felt like Drake was taking a couple of shots at me, and saying a couple of things that I felt like were towards me. Once that was said, I felt a little disrespected and it kept going on and I decided to say what I needed to say at that point. I think first and foremost, he’s a very talented guy and I send much love to him and to continue to do what he’s doing. I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing. It was a good battle, we got it done, it’s done. It’s over. It’s not over any woman."

INTERVIEW: T-MINUS ON PRODUCING DJ KHALED'S "I'M ON ONE"

Last year, DJ Khaled did it again. His latest single "I'm On One," which features Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Drizzy Drake, is a certified banger that is going to keep clubs rocking all summer. Although Khaled dropped a video showing the making of the song, it didn't tell the whole story. That's why we got on the horn with the song's main producer, T-Minus.

The Toronto-based beatsmith is looking to have a big year after producing Nicki Minaj's "Moment For Life" and contributing to Drake's Take Care as well as Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV. T-Minus tells us about producing the song alongside his buddies Noah "40" Shebib and Kromatik and how "I'm On One" started off as a song for Drake's upcoming album, but ended up in Khaled's hands.

On producing "I'm On One"

    “The song was recorded about a month and a half ago. It’s complex because so many people worked on the record. I made the beat with a co-producer that I work really closely named Kromatik. He helped me do some of the music on there. After I got the beat, I gave it to Drake, and submitted it for Take Care.

    “Drake was doing a record on it and 40 came in and did a little bit of writing on it. He played some chords over top of the melodies and the bass that were already in place. I had gotten a phone call from Drake and 40 like, ‘Oh man, we got this big record that we’re doing right now. Drake is recording as we speak.’

    “40 was the co-writer and the co-producer, he did the mixing and the filtering. The melody on the beat was mostly him and pretty much the [rest of the] record was me. 40 does the filtering really well and he recorded Drake—because they go really well as far as working and producing. That’s one thing about 40, he knows how to put the record together, especially with Drake. He really arranged the record and put it together real nice.

    “I was in the studio with Drake and he played it for me. I thought what Drake did was outstanding. He put a different spin on it. Even the beat is something different than what Khaled has done in the past.

    “From there, Drake recorded it and he gave it to Khaled. That’s really how we do records a lot of times. Producers might submit a track or a beat to an artist and it might not work out for the album, but it could still work out to be a record for anybody else. In this music industry, everything is so viral that it goes from person to person.

    “It’s not even a thing that [Drake] gave to [DJ Khaled], it’s more of a thing that we were all working on it. I don’t want you to get it confused that he just gave him a record out of nowhere, it was more of a thing we were all working on records. It started from Drake doing a hook.

    “I spoke to Khaled and he said he was getting Ross and Wayne on it. Khaled was really excited about the record. I knew it was going to be something big because I know when Khaled says it’s big, it’s big.

    “I’ve never met Khaled, but I spoke to him on the phone a few times about the record and getting records done in the future. There are some possibilities [that I may have other songs on We the Best Forever], we’re still in creation right now.

    "And [I’ve submitted] tons of stuff for Take Care. So far, it's been pretty much me, 40, and Boi-1da. That’s the Toronto connection right there. I can’t give you too much information about what’s going on with the album, all I can tell you is it’s still in the making.”

MTV CROWNS RICK ROSS AS THE HOTTEST MC

MTV releases its list of the hottest emcees in the game, including Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and more.

MTV has announced Rick Ross as the number one emcee on its Hottest MCs list.

Ricky Rozay, whose 2011 consisted of the release of his Maybach Music Group compilation Self Made Vol. 1, edged out Drake, who landed at No. 2. Kanye West came in at third, while Nicki Minaj and her Young Money boss Lil Wayne grabbed fourth and fifth place, respectively.

"I just got the news that I was voted the game's Hottest MC, and man, it really means a lot to me, of course, but it's an honor," Ross told MTV. "It's something I've been watching, something I've been a fan of forever. Of course, MTV, they run the game. MMG, we're here. Shout-out to the whole team."

BIRDMAN HOPES TO ADD GOSPEL, COUNTRY AND MORE R & B TO CASH MONEY ROASTER

After being included on Billboard magazine's annual "Power 100 List," Birdman says he wants to diversify the YMCMB roster and include other genres. When Billboard magazine put together their annual “Power 100 List,” Hip Hop took a few prominent positions in the form of Jay-Z (listed with wife Beyonce) and “Birdman” (listed with co-founder/co-CEO Ronald “Slim” Williams). Jay-Z and Beyonce took the highest spot of any Hip Hop/R&B contributors by being listed together at the number 13 slot. And Brian and Ronald Williams weren’t far behind at the number 25 spot.

The Williams Brothers have been responsible for selling over 75 million records since signing a $30 million pressing and distribution deal with Universal back in 1998. Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Drake, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj all record under either the Cash Money or YMCMB umbrella. “We dominate Rap, but we need to dominate R&B,” Birdman told Billboard.com “We need to dominate Pop, Gospel, Country—we’re a brand so we should be able to put out all these types of music. DRAKE BREAKS DIDDY'S RECORD FOR BILLBOARD NO. 1 RAP HITS

It’s only a few years since he debuted on the hip hop scene, and rapper Drake has achieved phenomenal success as a recording artist. Now, he’s reportedly broken Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs record for the most number 1 rap singles on the Billboard charts.

The Young Money rapper now has 11 No.1 songs to his credit with the latest addition being his Nicki Minaj featured ‘Make me proud‘ song.

According to Billboard, ‘With his 11th No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart, Drake rewrites the mark for most leaders in the list’s 23-year history. I.e., when it comes to topping the tally the most, Drake, in less than three years, has become the best the chart ever had‘.

Diddy accumulated ten hits on the charts between 1996 (with the Lil’ Kim-featured ‘No time‘) and 2003 (with ‘Shake ya tail feather,’ featuring Nelly and Murphy Lee).

Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, has two albums to his credit, and three mixtapes which have all been well received; generating some of his career’s biggest hits, including ‘Best I ever had‘, ‘Find your love‘, ‘Over‘, ‘Miss me‘.

DRAKE SAYS HE WON'T RESPOND TO COMMON DISS, HE IS RECORDING NEW MUSIC

After Common said the beef was over, Drizzy says he won't entertain the battle in the future.

Common recently said that he is ready to move on from the beef with Drake, to which Drizzy has finally broken his silence. On the set of the video for “The Motto” with The Weeknd, Nah Right’s Nation spoke with the Young Money rapper who said he wouldn’t record another diss track towards Com and said that he used the beef to promote his latest album, The Dreamer, The Believer.

“No. Because despite how it’s been worded by him that situation is not a ‘hip hop moment’ or a ‘battle for the sake of musical integrity’…it’s a ploy for attention around the release of an album,” he said. “More than anything it was just disappointing cause what kid isn’t a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story.”

Additionally, Drake said that he plans to tour through 2012 and has already begun recording new music.

“I have begun working on new music already and I’ll be recording during the whole college tour with 40. Making better music and building myself as a business is all that’s on my mind. Hopefully some acting as well.”

COMMON EXPLAIN WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO END BEEF WITH DRAKE

Common is asked about Drake beef and shares his take on emceeing. "If you put me in the ring with anybody on the mic, I'ma destroy them."

While it has been weeks since Common and Drake have mentioned one another in rhyme form, they are still asked about their feud. Recently, Common was asked how this feud could end. He took the opportunity to shed light on why the rhyme battle began, saying that he's prepared to "destroy," but adding that he doesn't dislike Drake personally.

"I really honestly don't know how things will end," he shared in an interview with Bossip. "I just want to put out there that it's not a thing where I don't like him as a human being or like I got something against him personally. That's not what it is. You dissed me on record. I know you felt a certain way about certain things so if you dissed me so I had to say what I had to say. If you come at me, I'ma fight until the end. I'm not talking about physical. I'm talking about emceeing."

Com also added that he isn't just confident in a battle with Drake. Instead, Com noted that he feels he can stand toe-to-toe with any emcee in a rhyme bout.

"I feel like if you put me in the ring with anybody on the mic, I'ma destroy them. I don't care who it is. That's how I feel. At the end of the day, that's how every emcee should feel."

DRAKE'S PRODUCER 40 TALKS ABOUT KENDRICK LAMAR'S INVOLVEMENT ON "TAKE CARE"

40 discusses the process that landed K. Dot on Drake's "Take Care." The producer shed light on what Drake's reaction was to Kendrick's verse.When Drake released his second studio album, many were surprised to find Kendrick

Lamar as a featured guest. According to Drake's producer, Noah "40" Shebib, K. Dot's verse blew him and Drizzy away. During a recent interview with MTV, 40 discussed the process that allowed Kendrick to shine on Drake's Take Care, shedding light on how he and Drake reacted to K. Dot's lyrics.

"I guess [Drake] just sent it to Kendrick at some point," 40 shared. "I had no idea. He had just sent it to Kendrick. Towards the end of the process, we got it back. I think it was pretty quick. He must have sent it on his own. A few days later,

Kendrick sent back the verse, or whatever the case was. He was like, 'I got this Kendrick verse!' I'm like, 'On what?' He's like, 'On the beat you did.' I'm like, 'On what beat?' You know?" The verse, which touches on Kendrick's first encounters with Drake, hit home. Drake then decided the verse needed to be on the album, as 40 explained.

"It was crazy for Kendrick to write that verse and send that back, about Drake and meeting Drake and his opinions and feelings on him and that. We were both kind of blown away by that. Drake was really clear. He was like, 'I want to put this on my album.'"

COMMON REMIXES RICK ROSS' "STAY SCHEMIN," DISSES DRAKE

Com makes it clear that he's going at Drizzy on his latest diss cut.

Common has extended his beef with Drake to another diss track. Com, who originally sparked the war of words with his salty cut "Sweet," has recorded a remix to Rick Ross' "Stay Schemin" that originally featured Drake and French Montana.

Releasing the remix to MTV News, Com photoshopped "That Hoe Ass Nigg%" where Drake's name would be on cover art for the cut. He leaves Drake's verse intact, which features lines including "I see no need to compete with niggas like y'all."

Com unleashes on Drake on his following verse, even calling him out by name. "My motto is Chicago bitch, everybody know you're sweet, what the problem is? / Don't play dumb, I'm the one that acknowledged this," "The rapper of the moment, the style he don't own it / Acting all hard when he hardly like that / You gon' mess around and make me catch a body like that / Don't do it, 'cause every song you make Joe is really hoe music."

It's been quite a year in Hip Hop. This was definitely the year of the freestyle (we say that every year), the year of the mixtape (yeah, we say that too), and the year of the album pushback (yup, that again). Everything in Hip Hop is cyclical, but each time the same thing re-emerges, we're introduced to a tweaked formula from the last time around. In 2011, we witnessed the unification of two Hip Hop powerhouses (Jay-Z and Kanye West on Watch The Throne), we were met with an album from a famed rapper that half the public loved and the other half hated (Drake's Take Care), and we also heard a few cuts off an album that we're now being told may never happen (Dr. Dre's Detox). There was a lot more going on, and you'll see most of it on this list. As we check out the ten songs that our HipHopDX readers listened to the most, pay attention to the names. They're all familiar and all indicative of the top spots in Hip Hop. Well, with the exception of Maroon 5 of course.

1. Jay-Z and Kanye West - Otis

Having this song top the singles for 2011 on HipHopDX right before New Year's Eve is befitting. After all, "Otis" was all about celebration. Jay and Kanye took an Otis Redding sample to new heights and paired it with a video, where they strip down a Maybach and do donuts in it in front of an American flag. How's that for a party? Despite the fact that "H.A.M." (look below) was our first real glimpse into the Watch the Throne project, it was "Otis" that really had the people excited about what Jay-Z and Kanye West collectively had coming.

2. Jay-Z and Kanye West - H.A.M.

Lex Luger brought some out-of-the-box production for Jay and Ye on this one. The song was arguably bigger than the sum of its parts, and succeeded largely based upon curiosity. People had no idea what to expect after this song dropped. However, throw that badboy on at the club and everyone goes "H.A.M. aka "hard as a muthaf**ker."

4. Young Jeezy featuring Lil Wayne - Ballin

Many moons ago, people thought this track right here was the first look into Young Jeezy's Thug Motivation 103, as he and Lil Wayne stomped all over this track chanting that "ballin" mantra. It never did make it to the album, after it was pushed back so many times. That doesn't take away from its street anthemic value.

5. Dr. Dre featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey - I Need a Doctor

When this song hit the ground, it entered a marathon. Detox was 2010's big tease, but by 2011, it was really starting to look like a reality. Producer Alex Da Kid introduced his dark songstress Skylar Grey to the word, and her breathy vocals make this track so haunting, as Eminem is literally begging Dr. Dre to come back to music. Sorry, Em.

6. Maroon 5 featuring Mac Miller and Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger Remix

"Moves Like Jagger" sans Mac Miller was one of 2011's big deal Pop anthems. However, getting Mac Miller on the remix shoved this cut into the faces of Hip Hop fans, and guess what? They liked it. It also contributed largely to Mac Miller's crossover appeal. That's the reason why your little sister is bumping Blue Slide Park. So, Mac Mill has moves like Jagger too?

7. Game featuring Lil Wayne - RED Nation

Game's The R.E.D. Album had quite a few high points. This song, however, was one of the highest. Taking the "Zombie Nation" techno chants and dropping Lil Wayne in the hook beckoning everyone to "Blood the fuck up" made "RED Nation" the kind of song to get violent to. After all, angry music makes everyone see "red."

8. Eminem - G.O.A.T. (Jay-Z and Kanye West Diss)

This track seemed like it came out of nowhere, and it did. It was pretty old, and for whatever reason, it circulated this past year. Even Eminem himself spoke on the song, stating it was old and just a big venting session about not getting the respect he deserved. That all changed this year, and thankfully nothing became of this quasi-war between three rap stalwarts.

9. Lupe Fiasco featuring Skylar Grey - Words I Never Said

Another win for Skylar Grey, as she added to the intensity of this Lupe Fiasco track. Lupe spent a good long while frustrated with his label, his career, and his music. However, this song off Lasers added to the mainstream value of the project as a whole and brought Lupe right to the top of the charts. Sometimes the words never said go a long way.

10. Dr. Dre featuring Eminem - Die Hard

Yet another floaty in the Detox pool, "Die Hard" paired Dre with Em again on this third look into the album that never was. By the time this track hit, Dre fans were really convinced that Detox was going to happen and Eminem was going to play a huge role in it. Dre is pretty lucky. His presence on this 2011 list shows just how many people still care about his music.

DRAKE's PRODUCER 40 SENDS COMMON MESSAGES VIA TWITTER

In the middle of the controversy surrounding Common and Drake, Drizzy's producer 40 took time to send messages at Com Sense on Twitter.

After speculation regarding a feud between Common and Drake, Drizzy's producer has decided to enter the conversation. In a series of posts about the Chicago emcee, 40 claimed he is a fan of Common but added that he was "called a bitch" for listening to Com's music. He also said he had to argue with others who claimed Common wasn't "Hip Hop."

40's comments came on the same day that Common confirmed that "Sweet" was aimed for Drake. On the track, Com calls artists out for singing and being "soft."
