ADELE BECOMES BRITAIN'S WEALTHIEST MUSICIAN

23-year-old singer and multi Grammy award winner Adele is the U.K’s wealthiest musician, according to the 24th annual survey compiled by the Sunday Times Newspaper.

The survey says the young singer stepped up from her €6m (N12.3bn)earnings in 2011, to €20m (N41.4bn) in 2012.

Her fortune tripled in the past year after massive sales of her second album ’21′. ‘Adele is been the success story of the past year by a mile. You only get an Adele once every 10 years. It is a success on a ginormous scale’, Steve Redmonds of the Entertainment Retailers Association said.

The ‘Rich List’, which is based on an estimate of the minimum wealth of the richest 1,000 people or families in the United Kingdom as at January of a particular year, also features 22 year old Harry potter star Daniel Radcliffe as the richest actor, with €54m (N1.1trn) as he tops the overall list for youngest billionaires under age 30.

Meanwhile, 27 year old actress/model Keira Knightley, becomes the highest paid model with €30m (N61.8bn), mostly due to her contract as a brand ambassador for Chanel.

ADELE WINS TWO BRIT AWARDS, FLIPS THE MIDDLE FINGER!

Adele not amused by her speech being interrupted flipped the middle finger

The 32nd edition of the British Phonographic Industry‘s annual pop music or BRIT Awards was held last night Tuesday, February 21, 2012 and recording artist and songwriter Adele made the headlines by dominating the night just like she did at the recently concluded Grammys.

The 23-year-old singer won two awards – the biggest award of the night ‘Album of the Year‘ and ‘Best Female Artiste’ and gave an expected resounding performance of her single ‘Rolling in the deep‘. But it wasn’t all these that make her trend worldwide on Twitter.

Adele had been announced as winner of the top award ‘Album of the Year‘ of the night and was in the middle of her acceptance speech when she was interrupted by show host James Corden who introduced alternative rock band Blur.

‘Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year. I’m so proud to be flying the British flag for all of you‘,  Adele said…

Then came James Corden…

‘I’m so sorry, but I’m going to have to cut you off‘, Corden told Adele. Adele responded: ‘Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round‘. Obviously annoyed, Adele threw up the middle finger.

‘I got cut off during my speech and flung the middle finger. But that finger was to the suits at the Brit Awards, not to my fans‘, Adele said later on.

Adele won six Grammy Awards at the 54th edition that was held on February 12, 2012.

ADELE AND ED SHEERAN WIN AT UK MUSIC'S BRIT AWARDS

Soulful songstress Adele snatched a double win at the U.K.’s Brit music awards Tuesday grabbing the album of the year and best British female solo artist while tousle haired, singer-songwriter English troubadour Ed Sheeran, 21, won two trophies, which includes British breakthrough act and British male solo artist, at the bouncy ceremony in London’s O2 arena.

North London diva Adele, 23, won last week six Grammys and in the U.S. alone her sophomore album “21” sold more than 6 million copies. But Adele had to fix a potentially career-threatening throat condition and had to undergo vocal cord surgery in November.

"It's been an amazing year," Adele said as she received the female artist statuette from petite pop star Kylie Minogue. She wore a sleek black Burberry gown towering over Minogue adding that she feel like a drag queen next to Minogue

Actor James Corden, the show's host, cut short Adele's second acceptance speech that prompted the singer to make a rude middle-finger gesture in disappointment. She later apologized that it was meant at industry leaders, not her fans.

"I'm sorry if I offended anyone but it was the suits that offended me," Adele said. "Thank you all very much and thanks to my fans. I don't want them to think I was swearing at them."

ITV the show's broadcaster apologized to Adele in a statement for cutting her off.

The ceremony also included tributes to two departed divas, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse.

The red-headed Sheeran has been criticized as boring by some critics, but has garnered legions of young fans through online releases and unfaltering calendar of shows.

More than 1, 000 musicians, critics, record industry and the deciding public vote selected most of the awards.

ADELE SET TO PERFORM AT OLYMPICS AND GET HITCHED TO BOYFRIEND KONECKI, THIS YEAR

The amazingly talented Adele who has won six Grammies is looking forward to another tantalizing gift – an engagement ring from boyfriend this year.

According to the Daily Star, 37-year old Simon Konecki is all set to pop the question to the ‘Someone Like You’ singer Adele, who will be celebrating her 24th birthday then.

The tabloid claims that in addition to tying the knot the couple has even discussed the possibility of starting a family together. It was only a few months after they met each other that the couple announced in January publicly that they were dating.

A close pal of Konecki disclosed to Daily Star that Simon is so crazy about her that “he’s also talked about popping the question as soon as her birthday in May. It falls over the bank holiday weekend so he may plan a trip away and do it then.”

Moreover according to the pal Simon knows she’s ‘the one’ and all his pals agree that they have never seen him so happy “He’s like a different person,” the pal added. As for Adele, at the Grammy Awards earlier this month ‘The Rolling In The Deep’ hit maker had gone so far as to call Simon her "soul mate" and openly telling people she was "living the dream."

However, in the coming months, the engagement ring is not the only thing upper most on Adele’s mind. The soul singer is due to take to the stage at The Brit Awards tomorrow night - 21st Feb, 2012 as well as perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics in August.

Meanwhile an Olympic source raved “She’s the biggest star in the world right now. She would undoubtedly add something special to the event. It would be really great to see her perform at the Games,” he added.

BILLBOARD NAMES ADELE 'ARTIST OF THE YEAR'

Billboard Magazine has named UK singer and song writer Adele Laurie Blue Adkins professionally known as Adele as the ‘Artist of the Year’ for the year 2011.

Adele’s second album, 21, was the best-selling of the year with 4.8M copies sold. Her song ‘Rolling in the deep’ was adjudged the most popular song with alongside pop singers LMFAO‘s ‘Party Rock Anthem’.

Adele, 23, is the first recipient of the Brit Awards ‘Critics’ Choice’ and was named the number one predicted breakthrough act of 2008 in an annual BBC poll of music critics, Sound of 2008. Since her debut album, 19, Adele has received much recognition both commercially and critically.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and has been certified four times platinum in the UK. Her career in the US was boosted by a viewer record–breaking Saturday Night Live episode in late 2008. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Adele won the awards for ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance’.

Adele has six nominations in the forthcoming 54th annual Grammy Awards which is set to  take place on February 12, 2012 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Lady Gaga's 'Little Monsters' Bully Adele On Twitter

Lady Gaga, photographed leaving the X-Factor studios in London on November 13th, might have to talk to her fans about bullying again. Gaga’s little monsters who we thought followed Gaga’s guidance of peace, love and equality for all have been making tasteless jokes about Adele’s weight after comments were made about which female was the best selling artist in the world. The Daily Mail reports that the little monsters are afraid Gaga will lose to Adele at the Grammy’s and have taken to Twitter and YouTube to poke fun of Adele because of the title, yes it does sound that immature.

The little monsters have been tweeting cruel remarks like, “Confirmed: Gaga will not be wearing her meat dress because she is afraid Adele will eat it.” One Gaga fan made a video about Adele’s weight by changing the lyrics of a Gaga song, “I’m bootyful in my own way because Arby’s makes nooo mistakes, I’ve got the right order, baby, I was born this weight.” That wasn’t even a good mocking lyric. Instead of canceling her tour because of surgery, some Gaga fans have made the comment that the real reason why Adele had to cancel her tour was because she couldn’t sell enough tickets.

It isn’t every fan that is going around making cruel remarks, an executive at Gaga’s record label said, “Lady Gaga does not approve of bullying anyone for their physical appearance, it goes against everything she stands for. A tiny handful of fans may be letting her down.” There have been plenty of past fan feuds with female musicians like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, Demi and Selena and Britney and Christina, but it gets kind of personal to fans when people start commenting on body image instead of focusing on the talent.

Adele Battles Laryngitis, Cancels US Tour

English singer-songwriter Adele has cancelled her ten-city US tour due to a laryngitis infection she is battling with. Doctors diagnosed an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx; characterized by hoarseness or loss of voice and coughing.

Guys, I’m heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again I’m experiencing problems with my voice. It’s ridiculous I know! I can’t believe it myself. I follow all the advice I’m given and stick to regimes, rules and practices to the best of my ability but it seems to simply not be enough’, the 23-year-old singer wrote on her blog www.adele.tv/blog.

The tour which scheduled to commence on Friday, October 7 2011 and run through till October 21 in six different states has been postponed indefinitely.

I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again. I apologise from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do. I know it’s not only disappointing because of the show, but its plane tickets, hotel bookings, birthdays, anniversaries and time wasted. But please have faith in me that this is the only thing i can do to make sure i can always sing and always make music for you to the best of my ability. Truly yours and yours only forever Adele’, the singer who was obviously sad wrote in her last post.

Adele won the award for ‘Best R&B / Soul Act’ at the recently held MOBO Awards 2011 in Glasgow, Scotland
