Soulja Boy Denies Buying $55 Million Private Jet

A rep for the Interscope Records sensation denies the he splurged on a private jet.

Reactions to reports that Soulja Boy spent $55 million on a private jet for his own birthday ranged from head-scratching confusion to incredulity. However, a rep for the 21-year-old denies the report, according toaceshowbiz.com.

"The elaborate rumors circulating about Soulja Boy purchasing a jet for his 21st birthday are grossly over exaggerated." Said spokesman Greg Miller, who explained that the rumors "are not true".

TMZ earlier reported that the raooer bought a G5 jet for $35 million, and spent an additional $20 million to trick it out with Italian leather seats, liquor bars, flat screen TVs, Brazilian hardwood cabinets, and other amenities.

The original report was further surprising upon reports by various outlets that the rapper owed over $26,000 in taxes to the IRS, which would put in the dubious company of R. Kelly, Swizz Beatz, and others.

Chris Brown Reveals Cover Art For Hip Hop Mixtape "Boy In Detention," Due August 5th

UPDATE: After teasing the Internet with some rap-only tracks, Breezy announces his impending mixtape.

Chris Brown has announced the release of his upcoming rap mixtape Boy in Detention. Taking to his Twitter account to break the news, Breezy explained that his latest offering will be Hip Hop-oriented and that "I'm a singer so if this mixtape doesn't reach your quote for hip hop! Simply don't listen."

The announcement comes in the wake of several new tracks released to the Internet, including "Real Hip Hop Shit #3"  and "Real Hip Hop Shit #4"  featuring Kevin McCall. Both of the songs were produced by 9th Wonder.

Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Ice Cube, Ice-T, WC To Appear In 40 Glocc Video

It's a West Coast block party for 40 Glocc's "Welcome to California" video.

40 Glocc is taking the title to his song "Welcome to California" very seriously, as the emcee has gathered a veritable who's who of artists to appear in the video for the track.

MTV News reports that aside from E-40, Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, Xzibit and Sevin (all of whom rap on the track), a slew of other left coast rappers will be featured in the video. Ice Cube, Ice-T, WC and Mistah Fab have all been listed as cameo appearances on the star-studded project.

"'Welcome to California,' I just thought it was necessary to get back to the roots," said Glocc. "I felt like we were out of touch with our peers, so I felt like re-touching everybody from Southern California to Northern California, just bring everybody together. So you got all the O.G. cats and you got me and my homey Sevin, who is from Sacramento."

40 continued, explaining that it was difficult to get everyone together at one time. "[W]e pulled it off. I was exhausted after, like 'wow.'"

"Welcome to California" will be on 40's upcoming album, New World Agenda.

DMC To Take Run-DMC Story To Broadway

DMC plans to bring his group's story to a new medium.

Following the release of the recent documentary DMC: Walk This Way, DMC has announced that he will try to take Run-DMC's story to Broadway.

"Before we do the film, we're taking the story to Broadway," explained the Rap legend in an interview withSOHH.com. "We grew up big time. So when we do stuff, we gotta do it big. Yeah. We're in discussions right now. We're over halfway there. It's a strong possibility that we will be taking the Run-DMC to Broadway. Then after we do the play, we'll do the picture. We want to do Broadway first."

"We've been in talks for about the last year and a half. What we have to do right now is get a script and a storyline and get some pre-production going on," he added. "The definite thing about it is it's going to happen."

Currently, the group is also poised to have a biopic released sometime in the future.

Jay-Z Reflects On Kanye West In "Watch The Throne" Mini-Documentary

 Jay-Z reminisces about Kanye's growth from a little-known producer to a superstar.

As Jay-Z and Kanye West ready their highly-anticipated collaborative album Watch The Throne, the duo has released a mini-documentary featuring interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of their creative process.

In the documentary, Jay-Z looked back at Kanye's development over the past decade.

"Kanye, I've seen him, he's really like a brother to me," says Hov. "I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now and to see him as a producer and how he's grown as a producer and an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable. I'm watching the guy I pretty much mentored become his own guy with his own opinion, it's fantastic."

The documentary also shows a young Kanye West predicting his future success in 2002, telling Rap fans to get ready for his takeover. "My album, y'all gonna see, I'm gonna take it to the next level," he warned.

Rhymefest Defends Kanye West In Beef With Consequence

Rhymefest opines on Consequence's beef with Yeezy.

Rhymefest's history with Kanye West goes back many years. Besides both emcees hailing from Chicago, Rhymefest notably co-wrote Kanye's hit "Jesus Walks." 'Ye returned the favor, appearing on two tracks on Fest's debut album, Blue Collar, and producing one of them.

As such, the Chicago rapper has taken it upon himself to offer an opinion on Consequence's beef with Kanye West.

After briefly addressing the matter on Wednesday (July 27) by saying that "[sic] every mans responsible for his own success," Rhymefest took to Twitter again, elaborating on his position.
