BILLBOARD NAMES NICKI MINAJ RISING STAR OF 2011
Young Money Record’s rapper and singer, Nicki Minaj was Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011, named as Billboard‘s 2011 Rising Star, owing largely to the global success of her ‘Pink Friday‘ album.
The artist, who made music history earlier this year by becoming the first artist ever to have seven songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles, took advantage of the spotlight occasioned by the announcement to confirm her next album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ which is set for release on February 14, 2012 to her numerous fans on popular micro-blogging site, Twitter.
According to Billboard’s editorial director, Bill Werde, expressing excitement at the New York Native’s success, he stated ‘Nicki Minaj has established herself as a force in hip-hop and pop music, and we’re thrilled to recognize her accomplishments over the past year’. Minaj, 28, had topped charts recently with hits such as ‘Your Love’, ‘Super Bass’, and ‘Fly’ featuring pop star Rihanna.
She is also the fourth recipient of the award, following Jazmine Sullivan in 2010, Lady Gaga in 2009 and Colbie Caillat in 2008, and will join country music star Taylor Swift, who was named Woman of the Year, to collect the award at the annual Billboard Women in Music event in New York on December 2, 2011.

ANOTHER WAR BREWING BETWEEN INI EDO AND RITA DOMINIC

Nollywood actors like saheed balogun ,ramsey noah, jim iyke , Nonso diobi, others were nominated in Best Actor category while producers emem isong,Kunle afolayan ,Lancelot imaseun,Tunde kelani and others were nominated in the Best producers/directors category.
According to the organizers, the winners will be chosen by the general public and it is a poll for the public's favorite Nollywood Stars.
We gathered that Arik Airline will provide a free return ticket to the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival holding in New York, for the winners (Nollywood Star) of the poll/competition.
The latest development now is that, those that have been monitoring the voting since it started are pointing fingers at Ini Edo that the vote may have been rigged
According to ace journalist, dimokokorkusstella I have been monitoring this voting since it started and it beats my imagination that actress Iniobong Edos votes rose from 2586 to 6693 votes in less than a fraction of a second.!
I am definitely not implying anything but what happened speaks for itself and at this point i would say that the award is a sham,a big lie and a cotton over the eyes of innocent voters.
They should Tear down the bloody polls and let us concentrate on something else!
Star actress Rita Dominic is also accusing Ini Edo of foul play.

KRIS HUMPHRIES CONSIDERS SUING KIM KARDASHIAN FOR $10 MILLION
The recently ditched basketball player Kris Humphries is considering suing estranged wife Kim Kardashian alongwith her family for $10 million.
The basket-ball player’s major grouse is that his 31-year-old socialite wife Kim went ahead and filed for divorce on Oct 31, 2011 without taking his consent. Kim had announced that she was filing for divorce barely 72 days after their marriage.
26-year-old Kris is now in discussion with his lawyers as he believes that he ought to have been paid more for his involvement in the reality TV show “Kourtney & Kim Take New York.”
Kris and Kim are cast together in this programme. Meanwhile Kris is believed to very concerned about the manner in which he may be portrayed on the programme.
Kris’ legal team led by lawyer Lee Hutton III is investigating his options, informs a source. Also according to Kris his role on ‘Kourtney & Kim Take New York’ is much larger than he has been informed and hence he wants more money, informs the same source, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“But Kris is also suing because he’s really worried about how badly he’s going to be portrayed on the series,” adds the source.

MOVIE PRODUCERS CRY OF MOVIE REJECTION BY CINEMA OPERATORS FOR SCREENINGS
There is no doubt that the film in industry in Nigeria, which is widely called Nollywood, is experiencing a major shake up now. Though the sector of the entertainment industry has really not matched its music counterpart, but it is obvious that if the latest trend in diligently followed, the quality of movies spurned out would be top class.
This latest trend, many believed was the re-introduction of the cinema culture in Nigeria. The cinemas have now indirectly become the censor board of Nigeria.
For a film to be regarded as good, it must have gone through the cinemas and made good success. Films like Ije, Tango With Me, The return of Jenifa, The Mirror Boy and others have passed through this fire to become the gold they are today.
But with this development, many producers who have had their films not screened or shown at the cinemas have cried fowl that their films were rejected for no good reason.
There have been allegations by some Nigerian movie producers that the cinema operators frustrate them, while some believe that one must be highly connected to the who is who in the entertainment industry and those in the high places.
Some of those who made their minds known to NigeriaFilms.Com said that the cinema operators are just in the business only to make money out of the industry, but not to help contribute to its growth. They pointed out that the operators prefer to show foreign films at their cinemas to showing Nigerian movies.
This development they say would not help the production of good and quality cinema films, as the problem of piracy is still not yet tackled by the government.

BLACK EYED PEAS TO TAKE INDEFINITE HIATUS POST-MIAMI, FLORIDA SHOW
The gang will split apart to focus on their respective ventures. After tonight’s performance in Miami, Florida, Black Eyed Peas will begin its indefinite hiatus from recording and releasing new music.
According to frontman will.i.am, the hiatus is more of a “break” and that they will spend their time off focusing on other ventures. “We always have two cycles of records and then we take a break," said will, who is gearing up for the release of a solo album. "And then two cycles of records and then a break. When we take breaks you know, we work on side projects and get our personal stuff in order then come back and make beautiful music. We think beautiful music."
Taboo plans to spend time with his family, while apl.de.ap will focus on being an ambassador for education in the Philippines. Fergie is looking to start a family.
Yeah, that's one of the things that we want to do," she said. "I've just been touring since 2003 and like anything things get monotonous and your doing the same thing every night. I'd like to go days without wearing make-up and watching my football games. Doing my footwear collection and my fragrances...Just going where the day takes me."
Tonight’s show is set to feature cameos from Cee Lo Green, Flo Rida, Marc Anthony, Sean Kingston and Jason Derulo.

12 MOST UNSAFE CELLPHONES
Android can boast its strength in numbers since topping their Apple competitors in smartphone sales back in March, but a recent study is bound to serve up the OS developers with a little humility.
The 'Dirty Dozen' list of the market's most unsafe smartphones consists solely of Android models. Researchers at Bit9 have convicted 12 such devices of posing the highest privacy and security risks to its users.
Here's how the troubled Android models stack up:
1. Samsung Galaxy Mini
2. HTC Desire
3. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
4. Sanyo Zio
5. HTC Wildfire
6. Samsung Epic 4G
7. LG Optimus S
8. Samsung Galaxy S
9. Motorola Droid X
10. LG Optimus One
11. Motorola Droid 2
12. HTC Evo 4
The study weighs three major factors that pertain to smartphone safety: market share, out-of-date software and the time it takes to receive updates. Despite a dominating market presence, Android's struggle with the latter two seemed to shock the researchers just as much as it's sure to astonish the millions of Android users.

HULK HOGAN HIT HARD BY DIVORCE SETTLEMENT WITH WIFE LINDA
The confidential divorce settlement between Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, and ex-wife Linda Bollea, has surfaced proclaiming surprising details that sounded like the famous wrestler was slammed, with his wife receiving more than 70 % of the couple’s liquid assets, plus $3 million property settlement, and 40 % ownership stakes in Hulk’s companies, msnbc.com said.
According to documents, Linda Bollea received a lump sum of $7.44 million from the couple’s investment accounts and the remaining $2.97 million went to Hulk.
But it’s not all bad news for Hulk Hogan because he will get to keep the money he earns from personal appearances and will not have to pay alimony.

COURT ORDERS NDLEA TO COMPENSATE BABA SUWE N25M
An Ikeja High Court has ordered the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to pay a sum of N25M (Twenty five million Naira) to popular actor and comedian Babatunde Omidina better known to the public as Baba Suwe.
As reported earlier, Baba Suwe and his counsel had dragged the NDLEA to court, suing for N100M damages for the unlawful detention of the actor which led to public humiliation. The order was given this morning Thursday, November 24, 2011 by presiding judge Justice Yetunde Idowu who cited that the detention of Baba Suwe by the NDLEA ‘was not justified’.
‘The actions of the NDLEA constitute a flagrant abuse and infringement of fundamental rights of the applicant’, Justice Idowu said. She also added, ‘the compensation awarded should reflect the extent of which the applicant’s dignity was damaged’.
In addition to the sum of money ordered to be paid, Justice Idowu also ordered the law enforcement agency to publish a statement of apology in two widely read Nigerian newspapers. The choice of newspapers is to be agreed by both counsels.
‘It is our hope that this judgement sends a large message to other law enforcement agencies’, Chief counsel to Baba Suwe, Bamidele Aturu said. The NDLEA counsel T.E Asuquo acknowledged the judgement. ‘As your lordship wishes’, she said.

2FACE RESCUES INJURED POLICEMAN
2face Idibia is in the news again but this time around he isn’t receiving any awards or featuring on international talk shows or headlining any event. The singer who is credited to singing one of the biggest songs to come out of Africa ‘African Queen’ recently played the role of a ‘Good Samaritan’ as he reportedly saved the life of a Police Officer who had been shot.
The story goes that 2face and a close friend, event manager Matthew Ohio at about 3AM left the Nu-Grotto located at 217 Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island and were heading to the Southern Sun Hotel in Ikoyi, driving in the singer’s Ranger Rover Sport through Muri Okunola Street when they came across a man lying down by the roadside.
Ohio who was driving says the pair decided to stop and find out what was wrong with the man. Upon getting closer, they discovered it was a police man and that he had been shot three times by – once in the hand, in the stomach and in the leg. ‘He kept saying we should help him, he looked like he was in a lot of pain’, Ohio who is executive producer of Industry Nite, the weekly event held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos told Nigerian Entertainment Today in a telephone conversation.
It is believed that the policeman who identified himself as Corporal Ganiu had been shot just five minutes before Idibia and Ohio drove by. Ohio tells us that they had been alerted by security guards at Nu-Grotto but they ignored the warnings.
2face and Matthew then carried the bleeding policeman into the back seat of their vehicle and rushed him to the Reddington Hospital located at 12 Idowu Martins Street, Victoria Island (next to Mega Plaza) to receive treatment. The hospital staff were said to have been hesitant to attend to the victim until they recognized 2face who served as a guarantor to the officer. It can be recalled that 2face had also been rushed to the same hospital back in October 2007 when he was shot by robbers. ‘I have a card here too o’, 2face was said to have told the hospital staff.
‘The story is quite true’, says Don T, exec at 2face’s management Now Muzik. ‘2face took him to Reddington which is his official hospital’. However, Don T could not confirm as at the time of this report if 2face settled the medical bills even though ‘it’s quite possible he did’.
We’re told Corporal Ganiu has been transferred to the Military Hospital, Awolowo Rd, Ikoyi to receive further treatment and his health condition is said to be stable.
2face is sure not new to robbery attacks and hospitals as he has also had his fair share of horrific episodes. On January 12, 2005, he was attacked by unsuspected robbers at his residence in Festac Town, Lagos and in October 2007, he was also robbed and shot while returning home from the Muritala Mohammed International airport after attending the MOBO awards in London, where he was named best African act.

"I REALIZED I'D BEEN SHOT"-TUFACE IDIBIA
The difference between life and death is so slim. One minute you are gone.In Nigeria, life can be so cheap. Before you know it,someone is aiming his gun at you and asking you surrender everything on you.At times,he doesn’t even give you enough time to comply. In one moment of madness,he pulls the trigger and the bullet hits you gboooa! I have been shot and I don’t like talking about it.It was just like a flash.
This guy comes to the car,he tries to open the car but the door is locked, and before we could even realize what is going on, the guy brought out his gun and just shot: He shot the glass and I was sitting on the passenger side on the front seat. So the bullet caught me on my left thigh.Just like that.
I didn’t even know the bullet was in me already.I thought it was a shattered glass that touched my leg, I didn’t know it was a bullet. It was when I opened the door and I started running that I started feeling pains in my leg.And then I touched my leg and I saw pure blood.
That was when I realized I was shot. In the heat of the moment, that adrenalin was pumping and you weren’t feeling anything at that time. I just came from London that evening. So I was just coming from the airport and going home.
I was stopped actually.I met a small traffic jam at Cele Bus Stop on the way to Festac. So we were just slowing down when the guy just came out. Then he tried to open the door but the door was locked.I don’t know whether the guy knew me. I don’t think so.I think it was one of these normal robberies in a hold up.
He just said:” Open the door! Open the door!” We were looking him with shock, then the next thing he pulled out a gun and shot. All these happened within 10 seconds. Some of the pellets cut my friend’s hand. In the confusion, everybody took off on hearing the gunshot. Some people even came out of their cars and fled forsafety. Luckily, we quickly stopped a bus and the guy was nice enough to stop.I guess because of the commotion, the robbers too panicked and fled.
I was first taken to Cedar hospital in Festac where they gave me first aid treatment. And then,Reddington ambulance came and took me from there. Gunshot is like having a hot substance inside your body.It peppers.I was just thanking God.I imagined what could have happened if I had been shot in the face or in the chest. This happened in 2007.
Earlier,on January 2004,I had been attacked by armed robbers. It was another close shave. They had to break the wall to enter my house. They beat the hell out of me that day. They were beating me and asking “Where is the master of this house?” I told them:” My master had travelled”.They didn’t know I was the master of the house. They were just hitting me with a stick. They almost broke my neck.At the hospital,I was made to wear a neck brace for over a month.
They took away my money, jewelry and some other stuff. All these experiences have taught me that life is so precious, yet precarious.Anything can happen in any second. So, make the most of your time.It was by the grace of God that I survived that gunshot. What if his hand had gone a bit higher to hit my head or my chest? It would have been a different story.
It’s so sad that we live in a country where there is insecurity. In Nigeria,a trailer would park where it is not supposed to park and you just run into it and it’s all over. That was what happened to the rapper Dagrin. These are the words of Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2face, narrating his ordeal in the hands of armed robbers. He also laments on the seemingly rising insecurity in the country.

CELEBRITY QUOTE: ACTOR AREMU AFOLAYAN-A MUST READ
My problem with Nigerians is that they condemn us for begging for funds like what happened on facebook. They said we called America based ladies or girls in the UK soliciting for funds. The reason is that we are not adequately compensated for our hard work.We find it difficult to feed with the little we get. That is how poor we are.
They condemned me for being the expensive type but why won’t I say the truth. Why would I pretend to be what I am not? I give respect to everybody but what respect do you deserve when you have the fund to assist but deliberately refuse to assist.
They have turned us to beggars and yes I admit that Nigerian actor are beggars. I will stand by it that we are beggars. We don’t have a means of living than movies.
And when it doesn’t fetch us what we desire some people among us start pretending by buying big cars but it’s an illusion. The government and private sector should get involved urgently. The first time I travelled to Dubai was the same day Tom Cruise flew in.
I came via economy class(Emirates) but Tom came with a private jet.We landed at the same airport, about 70 exotic cars came to pick him while I took a taxi. He is an American actor while I am a Nigerian actor. But see the huge difference. He was well known but I was not. He is not a Dubai citizen but quite popular everywhere. I slept in a cheap hotel but he was first driven to see the Sheik of Dubai and later lodged in a 7-star hotel which cost about $7,000. That money is enough to shoot a movie.
The difference is the system that operates in both countries. Why won’t Nigerian artistes beg? If I have a means of getting the needed capital, I won’t resort to appealing for funds. With the stipends we get, we can’t afford ordinary Volkswagen. We are miserably poor.
The way out is for an average Nigerian to see us as normal people. They should assist us. They should help the industry to grow. Imagine, I need guns for my film, but with due process it will take months to get approval. You have to bribe your way out. Government should come to our rescue.

HOW TO AVOID PAINFUL SEX
Are you suffering from painful intercourse? If so, you are not alone. Female sexual pain is rarely discussed in the media, at the coffee shop or even in the doctor's office but it is a real problem for many women and some men. Dyspareunia (from Greek meaning "badly mated") is painful sexual intercourse, due to medical or psychological causes.
The symptom is reported almost exclusively by women, although the problem can also occur in men. The causes are often reversible, even when long-standing. Intercourse pain, or Dyspareunia, can cause problems in a couple's sexual relationship. In addition to the physically pain, there is also the possibility of negative emotional effects where, If you experience pain during sex, it's almost certain to be distressing for you.
This distress may well make you tighten up and this tightening up will very likely make the pain worse next time. Who loves going back again and again for pains? So the problem should be addressed as soon as it becomes evident.
What causes it?
There are dozens of possible causes for this type of pain, fortunately, many of them aren't too serious, but a few are. Ideally, the assessment should be done by a doctor who is skilled in the technique of vaginal examination.
One of the first things to be established is: is the pain deep inside you? Or is it near the outside?
This may not be easy to say as sometimes a pain is both superficial (near the outside) and deep. Deciding which it is can help sort out what's wrong.
But in many cases, a woman can experience painful sex if there is not sufficient vaginal lubrication. When this occurs, the pain can be resolved if the female becomes more relaxed; if the amount of foreplay is increased, or if the couple uses a sexual lubricant.
In some cases, a woman can experience painful intercourse if one of the following conditions is present:
• Vaginismus. This is a common condition in which there is a spasm in the vaginal muscles, mainly caused by the fear of being hurt. Vaginismus arouses strong emotions, and women who have it are often very angry with their partners, doctors and themselves. But the condition is no one's fault.
Common causes include:
• A restrictive upbringing, in which the woman was brought up to view sex as nasty or dirty.
• An upbringing in which the woman was given the idea that the vagina is very narrow and so sex must be very painful.
• A history of rape or childhood sexual abuse. Experiences like these understandably make women fearful of sex and of being hurt.
• A medical history of painful vaginal infections.
• Unease with the partner – perhaps at an unconscious level.
It is a common misconception that women with vaginismus dislike sex altogether. In fact, many women with this condition enjoy closeness with their partners.
Many get great pleasure from love play and some are able to reach orgasm in this way. But the enjoyment ceases when penetration is attempted or suggested.
What are the other causes of deep pain during sex?
• Vaginal infections: These conditions are common and include yeast infections.
• Problems with the cervix (opening to the uterus): In this case, the penis can reach the cervix at maximum
penetration, so problems with the cervix (such as infections) can cause pain during deep penetration.
• Problems with the uterus: These problems may include fibroids that can cause deep intercourse pain.
• Well-endowed partner: Some women complain that their partner’s penis is too big. In fact, when a woman is aroused and
relaxed, the vagina extends by several inches – so any female should be able to accommodate any male.
• Endometriosis: A condition in which the endometrium (tissue lining the uterus) grows outside the uterus.
• Problems with the ovaries: Such problems might include cysts on the ovaries.
• Pelvic inflammatory disease: The tissues deep inside become badly inflamed and the pressure of intercourse causes deep pain.
• Ectopic pregnancy: A pregnancy in which a fertilised egg develops outside of the uterus.
• Menopause: The vaginal lining can lose its normal moisture and become dry.
• Intercourse too soon after surgery or childbirth:
• Sexually transmitted diseases: These may include genital warts, herpes sores, or other STDs.
• Injury to the vulva or vagina: These injuries may include a tear from childbirth or from a cut (episiotomy) in the perenium (area of skin between the vagina and the anus) that is made during labor.
Does intercourse pain affect men?
Sometimes men experience pain during intercourse. Common causes are skin disorders on the penis such as eczema or psoriasis.
It can be that the woman's vagina is too tight for her partner. A good sex lubricant can help here.
Occasional causes of male pain include:
• thrush – in which case the female partner will probably have thrush too
• a forgotten stitch left in the woman's vagina after childbirth
• an IUD thread or a displaced IUD in the vagina
• Peyronie's disease – a male disorder that causes bending of the penis.
How Can It Be Treated?
Some treatments for painful sex in women do not require medical intervention. For example, in the case of painful sex after pregnancy, wait at least six weeks after childbirth before attempting intercourse. Make sure to practice gentleness and patience. In cases in which there is vaginal dryness or a lack of lubrication, try water-based lubricants.
Some treatments for female sexual pain do require a doctor's care. If vaginal dryness is due to menopause, ask a health care professional about estrogen creams or other prescription medications. Other causes of painful intercourse also may require prescription drugs.
For cases of sexual pain in which there is no underlying medical cause, sexual therapy might be helpful. Some individuals may need to resolve issues such as guilt, inner conflicts regarding sex, or feelings regarding a past abuse.
Call a doctor if there are symptoms such as bleeding, genital lesions, irregular periods, vaginal discharge, or involuntary vaginal muscle contractions and ask for a referral to a certified sex counselor if there are other concerns that need to be addressed.
Summing up Whether you're female or male, you shouldn't disregard pain occurring during intercourse. If it happens more than once, it's time to see an experienced doctor. Very often, the problem is curable. Avoid ongoing sexual pain and discomfort that could be destructive to your relationship and to a woman's sense of wholeness.
Seeking help for sexual pain is just as important to a woman's health and well-being as getting help for a tooth-ache or broken leg.The pain and discomfort are real and often worsen without treatment.
