Serengetti Records Parts Ways With Zeez, Godwon, Sign Hakym The Dream

Nigerian rapper Godwon and pop singer/producer Zeez have reportedly parted ways with their music label, Serengetti Records, amid differences.Godwon (real name Neyu Godwin Nyan) in a phone chat with Nigerian Entertainment Today confirmed the news about him leaving. The rapper, who was signed to the label in July 2010, claims he was ‘not well represented’ by the label and didn’t feel he was getting enough attention from them. He says he left in July 2011 after his one-year contract expired.

‘When you are putting in your best and not receiving any, it becomes a problem. There are no grievances but I feel I got more to offer without them’, Godwon told NET. A source close to Zeez has also confirmed the situation but insists there was no rift between both parties. ‘They parted amicably’, our source tells NET. The artiste (Zeez) was said to have returned his sign-on fee, which is in the region of five million naira to the company. Calls made to Zeez’s mobile phone weren’t answered.

A representative of the label who spoke under anonymity confirmed the report although stating that the company was yet to officially make its position known on the matter pending paperwork to be legally wound up. The source also affirmed the reception of the fee by Zeez and re-stated that there was no acrimony between both parties.

The artistes concerned however seem to have settled down to life outside the label as reports have it that Zeez is currently prepping up for his upcoming US Tour of eight cities, kicking off on the Sunday, November 20, 2011, while Godwon is set to drop a mixtape ‘No Days Off” which promises to deliver top class lyricism. In related news, award winning lyricist, Modenine has debunked rumours making the rounds that he once signed with Serengetti. ‘I wasn’t just interested, besides they later said they were looking for singers’, the rapper told NET.

Serengetti records, which is owned by Ngozi Ezeala, and became operational in 2010 has acts on its label like PJ, Fatboy, producer Josh Beatz and new signee Hakym The Dream, whose ‘Scooby doo’ (remix) video featuring eLDee is currently enjoying airplay.

Nollywood actress Mary Remmy loses sister to Boko Haram

Eucharia Remmy, the sister of fast rising Nollywood actress Mary Remmy is dead, Eucharia, who graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 2010, was undergoing her youth service at Damaturu in Yobe state when she was attacked and killed by Boko Haram.  The bomb attack that killed her was said to have so far left 150 people dead.

Her actress sister Mary is famous for her roles in hit movies Beyonce and Rihanna and Blackberry Babes.

Bukky Wright Honoured As Best Nollywood Actress

Nollywood actress, Bukky Wright has been honoured as the Best Nollywood Actress of the year 2011 at the recently concluded Great Women Post Independence Lecture and Awards which took place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the organizers of the event, Laurelsize, Wright was honoured for being ‘a role model to all’. ‘Bukky deserves the honour for being a role model to many up and coming movie actresses and even to the popular ones’, a spokesperson for Laurelsize says.

Also in attendance was seasoned actress Joke Silva who was a guest speaker at the event. The actress was celebrated as the Best Actress of our Time in the previous edition of the awards. The award according to organizers was set up to celebrate women who have contributed immensely in their various callings.

Eddie Murphy Resigns as Oscar-host

Star-comedian Eddie Murphy (50) is not at the next Academy Awards are host. The actor, the organizers know that after the resignation of the gala producers Brett Ratner also jumped off the trophy show, said the Oscar Academy. About a possible successor to the moderation of the ceremony in February, that was not disclosed.

"Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner, who was going to produce the ceremony, had thrown in the towel on Tuesday. Because of homophobic statements by the 42-year-old had fallen under attack. He gave himself a termination at the Academy.

Ratner was hired in September Murphy for the role of host of the Oscars. Murphy is a good friend and Ratner plays a starring role in "temporary gangsters". Murphy had led for the first time by the glamorous show.

Last February, the actor James Franco and Anne Hathaway as Oscar presenters stood together on stage. The previous year, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin performed the show. The Oscar trophies will be next year on 26 February the 84th Given time.

Victoria’s Secret fans, the lingerie and women’s fashions company just held their Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 at the Lexington Avenue Armory earlier today on 9 November 2011. The much anticipated Victoria’s Secret fashion show was attended – as expected – by New York’s finest, celebs, musicians, fashion royalty and A-listers including singer Debbie HarryDebbie Harry, actress Rachelle Lefevre and designer Donna Karan.

In true Victoria’s Secret spirit, the show was perfectly choreographed with ethereal motifs including angels’ wings and glamorous divas, presenting their lingerie with Victoriana and boudoir themes.Model Doutzen Kroes donned ethereal wings and tutu in blue and white, accessorizing with what looked like a blue sapphire and diamond necklace.

Not to be outdone, Alessandra Ambrosio wore a pink ribboned lace corset with matching armbands, topping a turquoise tulle tutu! Chanel Iman showcased a yellow lingerie ensemble, which was artistically embellished with a lipstick pink coverup and lace-trimmed leg warmers. To Miranda Kerr came the task of modeling a red ensemble, which was set off with many jewels including a large floral brooch, tiara and a diamond necklace!

Not sure what sort of look model Candice Swanepoel was going for but she was a combination of angel, bride and Victorian Steampunk lingerie model, complete with a large cameo brooch and grey spats! Wearing a whole slew of cameos, Miranda Kerr strutted a mauve ensemble with pink roses, covered by a black and white striped pareo and teal bolero. The Australian model was also bedecked with garland upon garland of jet beads.

On hand to entertain and interact with the models as they paraded were singers Nicki Minaj with pink curls who wore a yellow bustier, a rainbow colored skirt and tights with hearts and Adam Levine of Maroon 5, who serenaded the ladies as designs were being showcased. One of the lucky models to be serenaded by Adam Levine was Anne Vyalitsina, who wore a particularly lovely iridescent blue butterfly embellished ensemble in dark blue, accessorized with glittery blue gladiator sandals.
