Petey Pablo Sentenced To 35 Months In Prison For Firearm Charge

The "Raise Up" rapper was sentenced for an incident from last year where he attempted to get a stolen firearm through airport security. North Carolina rapper Petey Pablo may soon face up to 10 years in prison now that he has pleaded guilty to a weapons possession charge stemming from an incident last year. According to the Associated Press, Petey Pablo appeared in court on Wednesday, March 16 to enter into a plea agreement with prosecutors. While the rapper plead guilty to possession of a stolen firearm two other charges were dropped by prosecutors.

Petey Pablo is scheduled to appear in court in June to face sentencing for the charge.

On September 11, 2010 Petey Pablo was arrested in the Raleigh Durham Airport after airport security found a pistol in his carry-on luggage. The rapper was headed to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards upon being arrested. Petey Pablo currently works under his own label titled Carolina Music Group. His last studio album, Still Writing In My Diary: 2nd Entry, was released in 2004. It is unclear if or when a third studio album will be released from the rapper. Pablo has been sentenced to almost three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a stolen firearm.

According to The Sacremento Bee, the rapper, whose real name is Moses Barrett, will spend 35 months behind bars following a hearing in the U.S. District Court in New Bern, North Carolina on the 28 of September 2011. He was arrested last year after attempting to smuggle a firearm past security at Raleigh-Durham International Airport for a flight to Los Angeles, California. The gun had been stolen back in 2005.

Michael Jackson Manslaughter Trial Begins

The controversial trial of Dr. Conrad Murray started on Tuesday (September 27). The prosecution and defense have made their opening arguments in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of Pop legend Michael Jackson.

Defense attorney Ed Chernoff told jurors that, on the morning of his death, Jackson swallowed several lorazepam pills, and ingested the anesthetic propofol, allegedly leading to a "perfect storm in his body" that, in the end, was fatal. The defense's statement came after more than an hour of opening arguments after prosecutors painted a different picture, According to CBS News.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter, with his attorneys denying that he gave Jackson anything lethal. Members of the Jackson family in attendance included father Joseph, mother Katherine, sisters LaToya and Janet, and brothers Jermaine, Randy, and Tito. If convicted Murray faces up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.

Lauryn Hill Sued For Allegedly Keeping Clothes from 2007 European Tour

Ms. Hill reportedly kept threads given to her for her tour and didn't fulfill the terms of her agreement with the company. A fashion consultant who outfitted Lauryn Hill with clothing for her 2007 European tour has filed suit against the singer-songwriter, claiming that she never returned the clothes.

According to TMZ, Via Davia Vintage gave Ms. Hill “an entire wardrobe of high fashion items,” claiming that there was an agreement to pay a fixed weekly fee for a month. But after the timeframe elapsed, Hill kept the clothes for three months and only paid a fraction of what she owed. She also is accused of returning only 30 percent of what was provided.

Last month, a former member of her band from the same tour filed a suit of more than $20,000, claiming that she stiffed him out of thousands of dollars once the trek wrapped up.
