I stop directing for 4 years, I went on Sabbatical leave, because my gay movie affected my person, when I was called Gay, a lot of people distance themselves from me, and then I was always not comfortable with the perception people had about me so I felt I should do some internal restructuring, so I have done and I have to use motion pictures to address the issues of the society.

I am separated from my wife but I am not divorced, it has been 3 years now, we love our kids and we are taking care of them, there are issues we need to address, if is the will of God, we will come back.

Husband and wife get together to agree or disagree, I think my wife couldn’t contain with some of the stories that came with the filmmaking, when a man and woman are in a marriage, and there is no trust, they should probably not be together.

Like what I told you earlier when I brought the newspaper publication home and she responded that way my passion for commitment in the marriage dwindle completely, and I didn’t pretend about it, I am not a pretender because life is different from the movies.

Every man wants a woman that can talk to the king of him, even if I was a criminal or even involved in the act and my case would have been decided with mercy but for her comment I could be dealt with it.

It was her fault any way, she is the best of woman any man would have wanted for keeps, as a wife, I couldn’t cope with the challenges of my personal life so I said, Let us give ourselves a break, that is all.

NIGERIANS REACT TO DICKSON IROEGBU’S UPCOMING GAY MOVIE

Tongues have started wagging over the latest production of controversial film producer; Dickson Iroegbu – the Gay-themed movie titled ‘Law 58’, after he made known his reason for shooting it.

‘At the time, I was shooting the movie, most of my colleagues frowned at the project because it was rumour then that some of them were involved in the act. I thought it was time to take a stand, given the fact that I was once called a gay, just to discredit my personality… when the film is finally released into the market, they will be able to reconcile it with the Dickson Iroegbu they have known for several years. The world will also ascertain whether I’m a homosexual or not.’

The unifying reaction however is that the movie was borne out of the need to satisfy his selfish reasons.

‘Releasing a movie to change people’s perception about you won’t make a frigging difference’, a comment on a blog which published the story read.

‘He’s basically making this film for his own benefit and not really to condemn those in the act. If no one had accused him of being gay, he wouldn’t have felt the need to make an anti-gay movie, especially as the law concerning homosexuality hadn’t been passed’, another said.

Some others castigated him saying that the film director had certainly run out of ideas adding that research shows people are usually defensive of what they are guilty of. ‘This guy is gay, people always try to play defensive and camouflage when they want to hide who they really are .        

 

Others questioned his motive, ‘Why focus on homosexuality, why not a movie about the suffering and starvation of Nigerian people instead of trying so hard to prove to the world that you are not gay’.

A composed Iroegbu says the movie is already finished and due for official release sometime this month of February, 2012.
