OBIE TRICE SPEAKS ON LEAVING SHADY RECORDS IN 2008, EMINEM & DR. DRE'S ROLE ON "BOTTOMS UP"

Exclusive: The Detroit-bred emcee admits that his behavior upset the Interscope Records brass in the 2000s, and how he and Eminem maintain their business relationship these days.

“Obie Trice, real name no gimmicks.” Those were the infamous six words Trice uttered at the beginning of Eminem’s celebrated "Without Me" music video. As dated as Osama Bin Laden dancing in a cave may now seem, people may have the same cognition about Obie. With a decade separating then-and-now and four years after Obie Trice left Shady Records, it’s been a half-decade since Em’s former labelmate dropped an album; almost an eternity in today’s Hip Hop media sphere.

With the long passage of time in the chronicles of music release, one thing has remained the same, the relationship between Obie Trice, Eminem and Interscope Records.

“Those are still my people over there at Interscope and Shady, that’s family for life,” Obie Trice said. “I talk to Em almost every week so we still friends, still business partners and nothing’s really changed.”

Ironically, the heydays of Obie Trice may have been his most vulnerable. Trice opened up, explaining that his youth may have affected his future music endeavors. 

“I was young, fresh out the hood, jumped into this music thing,” he said. “It was a little overwhelming for me, I didn’t seize the moment when I should’ve so I had to move on and that’s just how things go.”

SWIZZ BEATZ REVEALED AS CEO OF MEGAUPLOAD, SUES UMG

It turns out that Swizzy's the CEO of the file-sharing site, and now he's fighting a legal battle with Universal Music Group.

The Internet was buzzing today with news about Wikipedia and a host of other websites' blackout protests over the impending SOPA/PIPA legislation. Now, the anti-piracy issue has taken a turn with the recent news that rapper/producer Swizz Beatz is the acting CEO of Megaupload and that he's now facing a major lawsuit.

MTV reports that the multi-platinum producer for DMX and Jay-Z is now fighting a major lawsuit against Universal Music Group and his involvement with the popular storage and file sharing website. Last year, Swizz enlisted Diddy, Will.I.Am, Kanye West and a host of other musicians and media personalities to help film a promotional video in support his site, which has come under fire in the past for it application in the music and video piracy.

These artists' support apparently didn't sit too well with Universal Music Group. The music conglomerate - which owns Hip Hop powerhouses like Def Jam and Interscope - issued a lawsuit and a YouTube take-down notice against the Megaupload video over the song's featured artists, whose appearance they didn't clear. Now, Swizzy and Megaupload are firing back at UMG with a counter-suit.

50 CENT SPEAKS ON HEADPHONE MARKET, FRUSTRATION WITH INTERSCOPE

G-Unit's 50 talks about his line of headphones and explains why it has been "discouraging" at times when dealing with Interscope.

During a recent stop at the Consumer Electronics Show, 50 Cent spoke about his line of headphones, as well as his frustration with Interscope Records. G-Unit's General spoke with SpikeTV about why he decided to get into the business of headphones and why he had to vent about his frustrations with his label.

When asked about why he got into the business world of headphones, 50 explained that it has been a natural progression for him. He added that his involvement with music, his "passion" for it, has made him more aware of what it takes to create great quality of sound.

"It's an extension to my passion for music," he explained. "I spend more time in the studio actually mixing material, making sure that the sound quality is right than the actual creating the idea. The song writing process for me is faster than actually finishing the song, mixing it."

50 was also asked if he felt his headset was superior to Dr. Dre's very popular Beats by Dre headphone line. He acknowledged that 50's line is "huge" but added that his line contains the best "wireless" headset.

"I think it's the best sounding wireless headset," he noted. His interview also included a portion about his frustration with his label. As we reported, 50 Cent has complained about his label and his upcoming projects a few times in the past. While he apologized to the label most recently, he still noted that "it's been discouraging" for him.

"I wrote this album. I went through the process of writing it. It's been discouraging at points to not see the same effort from everyone."

UPDATE: Fif apologizes to his label for ranting against them over his song leaks and album delays. 50 Cent recently stated that he would not be promoting his new music, but in a

Twitter rant today, he explained why he won’t be supporting future recordings and that he has no faith left in his label, Interscope Records.

“I have lost all faith in the team I’m on. I have nothing left to say I will not be promoting my music,” he wrote. ‘I’m going to deliver this album then. I have a film I wrote to focus on I’m not upset I’m just convinced this is not how I want to remembered.”

He continued by stating a troubling message that he doesn’t think he will live much longer. “Ill be honest I don’t think I’m gonna live much longer. That’s why I started my street king movement. I want to mean more in other peoples lives.”

Fif ended his tirade with an explanation as to why he mixed The Big 10 mixtape and how it was meant to inspire other artists.“I mixed the big 10 because everything I do has to be the best I can make it cause other artist will create after hearing the ideas.”

50 continues to be at odds with Interscope and says, "I'm not putting my album out [until] we are all on the same page."

This year has been an interesting one for 50 Cent and his dealings with Interscope. The G-Unit general has had his share of ups and downs with the label, frequently broadcasting both his displeasure and his satisfaction with his current situation. This year, he even announced that he'd written dis records about Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre before saying he worked out his conflicts with them. However, on Monday, December 12, 50 Cent noted that he's still not pleased with his label situation.

50 took to his Twitter account to voice his concerns with releasing an album on Interscope at this moment.

SOULJA BOY ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, SAYS IT WILL SHOW ''GROWTH & MATURITY''

The SODMG leader reveals the follow-up to 2010's "The DeAndre Way."

Soulja Boy has announced his upcoming fourth album Promise, releasing at the top of the year in 2012.

During an interview with The BoomBox, the 21-year-old revealed the project, which will serve as the follow-up to his poorly received 2010 album The DeAndre Way. "Right now I'm working on my new album," he said. "It's called Promise -- my fourth album to release from Interscope Records. It'll be in stores top of 2012. I want everybody to support."

Though SB is often criticized for being too simplistic, he assures that the new album will convey growth. "[The album is] just really showing the growth and maturity of Soulja Boy," he continued. "It's going to be dope. It's going to be lot of great records on it, a lot of dope features, a lot of great production. I want all my fans to check it out."
