‘Phone Swap’ is the new feature film by award winning actor/director Kunle Afolayan. Fresh off the critical and commercial success from his last offering ‘The Figurine’’, any project Kunle touches turns into gold and this clip already looks like a surefire winner.

It stars sultry Nollywood diva Nse IKpe Etim, screen legend Joke Silva, Wale Ojo and Ghanian Lydia Forson.

Two very different individuals accidentally swap phones in a busy airport. They find themselves dealing with the hilarious and surprising consequences.

Bukky Wright, Joke Silva honored

PRETTY actress Bukky Wright, the producer of the highly intellectual and entertaining movie- “Omotara Johnson,” has been honoured as the Best Nollywood Actress of the Year at the recently concluded Great Women Post Independence Lecture and Award held on October 29, 2011 at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry hall, Alausa, Ikeja-Lagos.

According to Laurelsize, the organizers of the award, the actress was unanimously selected for the award on the benchmark of her leadership capacity and contributions to the movie world despite the economic meltdown confronting the nation. It also said further that Bukky deserves the honour for being a role model to many up and coming movie actresses and even to the popular ones.

The elated actress was at the event in person to wittingly receive the deserving award. Veteran actress, Joke Silva, who was decorated with the Best Actress of Our Time Award in the previous edition of the event, was a guest speaker at the event as she spoke extensively on building the nation.

The event also unveiled Barrister Akpunonu,Vice President of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents as the Life Matron of Great Women Movement. While speaking at the event alongside Ogun State House of Assembly Member, Hon Adijat Adeleye, the unassuming barrister stressed the needs for a competitive atmosphere in order to altar a change in socio-political, economy and religious development.

The organizers have, however, promised to make next year’s event a memorable one in the bid to celebrate great women who have contributed immensely in their various callings.

Joke Silva, Olu Jacobs Renew Marital Vows

For the lot who attended actress Joke Silva’s 5oth birthday celebration in Lagos yesterday, Thursday September 29, 2011, it was an opportunity to watch the prolific screen goddess renew marital vows with her husband of twenty-five years – Olu Jacobs.

Though well advanced in age, veteran actor Olu Jacobs glowed with joy as he and his beautiful bride repeated after Pastor Tony Rapu of This Present House church, the ‘for better for worse’ commitment. Joke was clad in a flowing Boubou while English Olu wore a cream shirt over pants.

And with that single deed performed before friends, family and well-wishers, the couple put paid to rumours of separation or a falling marriage. The informal part of the occasion was compeered by delectable Kate Henshaw while singer Yinka Davies and her band provided music for the night. There was a special rendition of Westlife’s ‘Flying without Wings’ by Timi Dakolo.

Joke’s 85 year old mother was in attendance as well as wife of the Ekiti state governor, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi among Nollywood celebrities. And not even the pouring rain could dampen their joys.

Veteran Actress JOKE SILVA hits Jackpot

Nollywood star actress Joke Silva has been commissioned to produce a cinematic version of Chinua Achebe's novel-Man of the People. The Rivers State Governor who is a graduate of English Literature from University of Port Harcourt is in love with the plot of the novel-Man of the People and his wish is that every politician should read that novel but knowing very well that there is dearth of reading culture among Nigerians, the Rivers State Governor thought it wise to put the entire character into cinematic format so that it will attract wide audience and patronage.

What is not known is how much the project will cost the Rivers State Government as the sponsor. However there has been a deadline given to the project handlers and Gov. Amaechi is a man who believes in excellence. He is also one man who believes that the lessons learnt from the epic movie-Man of the people will change the way and manner Nigerian politicians carry out their responsibilities
