OPA WILLIAMS SINGS LULLABY FOR NITE OF A THOUSAND LAUGHS

The founding father of stand-up comedy in Nigeria, Opa williams has decided to stop the comedy show, Night of a thousand laughs.

Williams said comedians that started their own shows are trying to recreate Night of a thousand laughs which leads to recycling the same jokes and audience members that paid dearly for the show being shortchanged.He said he won't be part of the process .

Night of a thousand laughs was launched in 1995 and has served as an avenue for comedians like Basketmouth , I go dye, Julius Agwu, Gordons and many more to launch their career .

The final editions will take place on 26th in Benin and January 1,2012 in Portharcourt.

MY HEALTH CONDITION IS IMPROVING.VETERAN ACTOR ENEBELI ENEBUWA

Veteran actor, Enebeli Elebuwa is getting better after he was hit by stroke some weeks back.

Confirming this in a phone chat,he said My condition is improving.I am getting better.There is really a lot of improvement now Enebeli confessed.

Asked when he would be discharged,we were told that his doctors are still observing him and would decide when he would be discharged.

He also expressed gratitude to his Nollywood colleagues and Nigerians at large who have been supporting him spiritually and morally.

MO'CHEDDAH EXPLAINS THESE PHOTOS

Photos of Mo'Cheddah being carried by Peeshaun, the younger brother in the music group, Skuki, circulated on the net a few months back, with some reports claiming the two music stars dated...etc etc. When asked by an Encomium reporter about the photos...Mo said:

    When I saw the pictures, it did look wrong at the time. I am small, everybody carries me. Every human being I know that's my good friend carries me because I am light and I'm nice to carry. And he's a good friend of mine and that day he carried me...we took a lot of pictures, we were just having fun. People have dirty minds, I don't have a dirty mind. According to news from grapevine,two upcoming actresses, Ijeoma Anuforo and Oma Iyasera are currently at war over movie director, Moses Inwang.

It was reported that the two friends are in feud because Oma was in Moses Inwang’s job,Damage and Ijeoma,Moses’ ex-girlfriend was not in the movie.

Oma got the job through Moses and Ijeoma suspecting love play between Moses and Oma,confronted her former best friend forever and almost beat her to a pulp for accepting the role.

BOAT MISHAP CLAIMS OVER 30 PASSENGERS IN PORT-HARCOURT

Over 30 passengers of a wooden boat lost their lives after the boat they were traveling in capsized at the Eagle Island in Port-Harcourt last night. Only seven people survived.

The passengers used the water instead of the road to Rumuolumeni before taking taxis to Port-Harcourt

Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident, said seven persons were rescued after the boat mishap, adding that the bodies of the victims certified dead have been deposited at the BMH mortuary.

TOSYN BUCKNOR IN NASTY CAR CRASH

Popular radio on–air–personality Tosyn Bucknor has all cause to give thanks to God as she survived a car accident in the early hours of yesterday, Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

Bucknor, who anchors the ‘Top of the Morning’ on Top Radio 90.9 FM took to her Twitter account this morning to give a brief story of what happened to her.

The accident involved her car tumbling on the third mainland bridge after it had skidded and hit the culvet; this was a result of diesel which spilled on the road hours earlier.

Her car reportedly landed on its back. We’re told Tosyn stayed trapped inside the vehicle with her arm, partly fractured. It took the help of a man she identifies as Mr Peter to rescue her out of the car.

She was then put in an ambulance which arrived at the scene moments later and rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos.

‘I just thank God’, Tosyn who spoke over the phone from the hospital told Nigerian Entertainment Today. ‘I’m alive. ‘It could have been worse. And now more than ever, I believe there are still things I’m on earth to do’, she tweeted.

When asked by an Encoimum reporter if the rumours that he was back with his estranged wife Toni Payne was true, he replied:

    What I can tell you is that the relationship 9ice had with Toni Payne produced a child. For this reason, the presence of this child will always create a reason for the two of us to see, because the father needs to see the son, and the son needs to see the father. So if anybody sees 9ice and Toni Payne together, it's probably because they have come together to take care of the boy.

WAR BETWEEN RITA DOMINIC AND INI EDO CONTINUES: RITA DOMINIC IS ONLY JEALOUS OF INI EDO - INSIDER

The ongoing war between two Nollywood’s actresses, Rita Dominic and Ini Edo Ehigwene might not come to an end soon if what we are getting from camps of both sides is anything to go by.

The storm in the tea cup started when Rita took to a social networking site, twitter to show her displeasure at what she indirectly referred to as a sham in the number of votes Ini got overnight while AFRIFF was one.

Both thespians had canvassed for votes to win in the Best Actress of the year category at the just concluded Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos. The category had Patience Ozorkwo, Funke Akindele, Joke Silva, Rita Dominic, Ini Edo and others.

According to reports, winners of the awards would get return tickets to Tribeca Film Festival in New York next year courtesy of Arik Air, which is one of the sponsors of AFRIFF.

Winning the award was initially by public voting system on AFRIFF’s website. This made nominees canvass for votes from fans by every means available at their disposals. The organizers later settled for a lucky dip system, which produced Ini Edo as the winner, after the initial voting system generated lots of controversies.

We gathered that Ini’s votes rose from 2586 to 6693 votes between the night of Wednesday to Thursday morning. This made Rita tweet, Ok, I have to announce this o! INI EDO who had 200 votes last night has eclipsed the first place actress by 200 votes. JEZUXXXX.

According to the information gathered by NigeriaFilms.Com from an insider, we were told that Rita is just jealous of Ini Edo. According to the insider, “Rita is just jealous of Ini Edo. It is very clear that the people love Ini more than her, she should just wake up to that reality.”

When NigeriaFilms.Com asked why the assertion of jealousy by Rita, the insider said further, “If she weren’t jealous, why would she go on twitter to tweet what she did.
