Actress Meryl Streep arrives for the British Academy of Film and Arts (BAFTA) award ceremony in London
Veteran actress Meryl StreepMeryl Streep for best actress in a film 'The Iron Lady'. 62-year-old actress beat rivals such as Glenn CloseGlenn Close (Albert Nobbs), Viola Davis (The Help), Rooney Mara (The Girl Wiht the Dragon Tattoo) and Michelle Williams (My Week Wiht Marilyn).
As for the Best Actor, the jury decided to choose Pracis actor, Jean Durjadin through the film 'The Artist' are eligible to receive an Oscar. Jean is able to beat the big names such as Hollywood, George Clooney (The Descendants), Demian Bichir (A Better Lif), Gary OldmanGary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Brad PittBrad Pitt (Moneyball).
In addition to winning awards for the actors, the film 'The Artist' also won the award for Best Film and Best Director. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius managed to beat rivals such as, Alexander PayneAlexander Payne (The Descendants), Martin Scorsese (Hugo), Woody AllenWoody Allen (Midnight in Paris) and Terrence MalickTerrence Malick (The Tree of Life).
