STAR ACTOR, JIM IYKE LAUNCHES MUSIC ALBUM

Popular but controversial actor, Jim Iyke has concluded plans to launch his music album later this month.

The actor, who was recently involved in an alleged 15 million naira scam, we learnt will be launching the album on March 25 at Aphrodisiac Nite Club, Accra, Ghana.

Jim Iyke has tried his luck on music, just like his other colleagues (Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola, Desmond Elliot, Ramsey Noah, Stella Damasus).

He has earlier released two singles which featured 2Face Idibia (Who am I?) and Born To Do This, which had Puffy T on the track.

 Sultry actress,Beverly Naya,is no doubt the latest sensation in Nollywood.

The UK returnee young actress took a dive in Nollywood with her first amazing role in a hit movie,Home In exile,where she played alongside Desmond Elliot.

Her role as his girlfriend in the movie that had scenes where the duo kissed passionately instantly placed her in the memories of movie lovers and since then her career took a dynamic turn.

She has once again displayed her acting prowess in a new movie already making a buzz titled “The Stripper”.

The movie parades acts like Desmond Elliot,Uti Nwachukwu and Ini edo,among others.

Close pals of top actor,producer and director,Desmond Elliot,will no doubt agree that in the past two years,he was becoming puffed up like a balloon with his cheeks filling out.

It seemed he has taken to those words of advice because in recent times,he is wearing a new look.

He was spotted at the launch of the new soap Catwalq and he showed that he must have worked on his body as he now looks trim and fit with a boyish appearance which had a very strong appeal to the females at the event.

INI EDO PREMIERES DANCE MOVIE FEBRUARY 24

Confirmed reports getting to Nigeriafilms.com reveal that all is finally set for the Lagos premiere of I'll Take My Chances.

The movie is set to premiere at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos on February 24.

I'll Take My Chances is a dance drama co-produced by Emem Isong and Ini Edo. It was directed by Desmond Elliot.

The movie, which features Ini Edo, Sam Loco Efe, Jide Kosoko, Bryan Okwara and other actors, was earlier fixed for premiere in December last year but was cancelled by the premiere organizers.

ACE COMEDIAN AY GRABS MOUTH WATERING DEAL

Multi million Naira endorsement deals are currently flying left, right and centre in entertainment industry with most of the stars involved smiling to the banks. Ace comedian, Ayo Makun popularly known as AY recently landed a juicy endorsement deal. Haven Homes unveiled AY as their brand ambassador.

The unveiling which held during the recent Haven Homes Expo at the Oriental Hotel was attended by the crème de la crème of the Nigeria society. The award winning comedian, who recently completed his 2011 comedic tour was visibly excited about the union with the home builders whose qualitative finishing was fast becoming the toast of the nation.

According to AY "I have always strive for excellence in the implementation of my events and my performance to be singled out by a brand as unique as Haven Homes is indeed an honour."

The ambassadorial contract, which means the brand AY, would grace the various publicity campaigns of the Haven Homes brand within the next year including billboards, televisions, commercials and other press ads. In line with this, Haven Homes unveiled two of the Television commercials that will soon be hitting the airwaves.

RITA DOMINIC BEATS GENEVIEVE,INI EDO, STEPHANIE OKEREKE,OTHERS TO WIN ARIK AIRLINE BEST ACTRESS

Was Rita Dominic desperate to win the newly instituted Arik Airline Awards category for Best Actress at the just concluded African International Film Festival(AFRIFF), or was it just providence?

Recall that Dominic accused Ini Edo of manipulating the online voting result which led to the cancellation of the exercise, a week before the festival kicked off in Lagos.

But in a twist of fate, last weekend, the actress eventually emerged the winner of the same award.

However, she won the award not by voting, instead through a lucky dip conducted by former Miss World, Agbani Darego.

At last weekend’s AFRIFF awards night held at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, BBA regular host IK Osakioduwa who anchored the glamorous event with Rita Dominic had called out the ex-beauty queen, all for the purpose of selecting a winner of the award through lucky dip. After all said and done, Rita Dominic emerged the lucky winner beating Stephanie Okereke, Omoni Oboli, Genevieve Nnaji and others who were also nominated for the award. But Ini Edo’s name was conspicuously missing during the lucky dip.

Interestingly, this happened to be the first time, where a winner would emerge in an international contest of this magnitude through lucky dip.

But for IK, the organisers decided to adopt that means as the sponsors insisted on giving out the award to a winner, no matter the odds.

By winning the award, Rita Dominic will be flown to the Tribeca Film Festival, billed to hold in New York next year, by Arik Airline.

Apart from the Best Actress award, there were also winners in other categories of indigenous awards instituted by the airline. They were ace-film maker, Mahmood Ali-Balogun, whose “Tango with Me” remains one of the best movies ever shot by a Nigerian, won the Best Producer of the Year, and actor Desmond Elliot who won the Best actor award.

Kenyan Jane Murago-Munene’s “The Unbroken Spirit”won the Best Documentary category while Le Parrian by Pale Sie Lazare won in the area of Best Animation.

The Viewers’ choice award, awarded in terms of feedback of the audience concerning movie screened in the course of the festival, went to The Education of Auma Obama while Niji Akanni’s Aramotu lift the country at the event by winning the Best Feature Film prize, considered to be the most coveted award of the whole lot.

The film beat such films as Lancelot Imasuen’s epic film “Ädesuwa’, “Better Mus Come’by a Jamaican director, Storm Saulter, “Elza’s Happiness” directed by Marietter Monpierre from France amongst other films to cliche the prize.

The awards night was graced by a galaxy of celebrities across the world who dressed to kill. Mostly Nollywood super actors and actresses were the cynosure of attraction at the event. Kate Henshaw, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Omoni Oboli, Ini Edo, Monalisa China, Nse Etim Ipe, Rita Dominic, Uche Nnanna, Amaka Igwe, Celine Loaderand, Desmond Elliot, Kunle Afolayan, OC Ikeje, and a host of others.

SAM LOCO EFE RESURRECTS IN NEW FLICK I'LL TAKE MY CHANCES

The death of one of the finest Nollywood talent that Nigeria has ever produced, Sam Loco Efe was a big blow to the play-acting profession. His death saw many opened up on how it would be difficult for the country to ever have a fine actor like the locomotive Sam, as he was fondly called by friends.

Uncle Sam, as he was also being referred to, died on Sunday August 7, this year and was buried on October 21, after spending over 70 years on earth.

According to confirmed information getting to NigeriaFilms.Com, Sam Loco will resurrect and his fans and lovers would have the chance to see their wonderful actor when he finally resurrects in Lagos. The date of his resurrection has been fixed to be on December 30, 2011.

As we learnt, Uncle Sam will resurrect in I’ll Take My Chances, a movie produced by the duo of Emem Isong and Ini Edo. The flick was directed by Desmond Elliot.

The movie is billed to premiere at the Silverbird Galleria, on Victoria Island, Lagos. It featured Ini Edo, Sam Loco Efe, Bryan Okwara (former Mr Nigeria), Biola Williams, and others actors. The film was written by the trio of Bola Aduwo, Uduak Oguamanam and Kehinde Joseph.
