Sultry and talented Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic, has almost already concluded plans to take her first effort as a producer to the cinemas.

The light skinned role-interpreter guru in 2011 stepped into the shoes of her fellow colleagues, Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda, and others, by
becoming a co-producer with Mildred Okwo in a new movie. The title of the movie by Rita is The Meeting.

According to information available to NigeriaFilms.Com, Rita is set to make The Meeting be at the big screens accross the country by March.

The film casts top Nollywood faces like Kate Henshaw, Chinedu Ikedieze, Jide Kosoko, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Tariah Basorge Jnr, Femi Jacobs, Bankole Kehinde, Rita Dominic and many others.

These are good times for top actress and Glo ambassador,Monalisa Chinda as she has just landed a juicy endorsement deal as the face of Vita500, a new energy drink from South Korea that recently stormed Nigeria and all West African countries.

We gathered that Chinda was paid a whopping sum of N30 million.

For the tenure of the contract, the sultry actress will be the face of the brand and represent the company at all their functions.

In a recent chat with a celebrity blog,Chinda was quoted: “Yes, I’m the new face of Vita500 energy drink; we recently concluded all contractual agreements with both parties being very happy with the deal. I’m not denying the fact that I was handsomely paid, but the amount is what I cannot disclose, it’s personal. My job for them as an ambassador is to basically use my face and goodwill to help promote the brand in Nigeria and other West African countries. This involves a lot of traveling and strategic public appearances”, she disclosed.

On her plans for 2012, Chinda added: “Now that I’m back, the next thing on my agenda is to conclude work on my soap, Catwalq, which I intend releasing early 2012. It is a soap that will change the face of programming on TV when it finally hits the airwaves. I have a lot to do and unveil in 2012 and my fans should be ready to see more of me, because I will be thrilling them nonstop.”

Was Rita Dominic desperate to win the newly instituted Arik Airline Awards category for Best Actress at the just concluded African International Film Festival(AFRIFF), or was it just providence?

Recall that Dominic accused Ini Edo of manipulating the online voting result which led to the cancellation of the exercise, a week before the festival kicked off in Lagos.

But in a twist of fate, last weekend, the actress eventually emerged the winner of the same award.

However, she won the award not by voting, instead through a lucky dip conducted by former Miss World, Agbani Darego.

At last weekend’s AFRIFF awards night held at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, BBA regular host IK Osakioduwa who anchored the glamorous event with Rita Dominic had called out the ex-beauty queen, all for the purpose of selecting a winner of the award through lucky dip. After all said and done, Rita Dominic emerged the lucky winner beating Stephanie Okereke, Omoni Oboli, Genevieve Nnaji and others who were also nominated for the award. But Ini Edo’s name was conspicuously missing during the lucky dip.

Interestingly, this happened to be the first time, where a winner would emerge in an international contest of this magnitude through lucky dip.

But for IK, the organisers decided to adopt that means as the sponsors insisted on giving out the award to a winner, no matter the odds.

By winning the award, Rita Dominic will be flown to the Tribeca Film Festival, billed to hold in New York next year, by Arik Airline.

Apart from the Best Actress award, there were also winners in other categories of indigenous awards instituted by the airline. They were ace-film maker, Mahmood Ali-Balogun, whose “Tango with Me” remains one of the best movies ever shot by a Nigerian, won the Best Producer of the Year, and actor Desmond Elliot who won the Best actor award.

Kenyan Jane Murago-Munene’s “The Unbroken Spirit”won the Best Documentary category while Le Parrian by Pale Sie Lazare won in the area of Best Animation.

The Viewers’ choice award, awarded in terms of feedback of the audience concerning movie screened in the course of the festival, went to The Education of Auma Obama while Niji Akanni’s Aramotu lift the country at the event by winning the Best Feature Film prize, considered to be the most coveted award of the whole lot.

The film beat such films as Lancelot Imasuen’s epic film “Ädesuwa’, “Better Mus Come’by a Jamaican director, Storm Saulter, “Elza’s Happiness” directed by Marietter Monpierre from France amongst other films to cliche the prize.

The awards night was graced by a galaxy of celebrities across the world who dressed to kill. Mostly Nollywood super actors and actresses were the cynosure of attraction at the event. STAR ACTRESS MONALISA CHINDA EJECT NSE IKPE-ETIM FROM HER LEKKI HOME

Fair skinned Nollywood beauty,Monalisa Chinda recently sent her colleague and friend Nse Ikpe Etim packing from her Lekki,Lagos home. Insiders say Nse who was living in Abuja used to put up with different friends and sometimes passed the nights at hotels whenever she visited Lagos for movie productions until Monalisa who was accommodated by Emem Isong when she parted ways with her ex hubby,Dejo Richards found a new apartment and offered to give Nse a room to live at her Lekki apartment.

Their friendship was a smooth ride until the girls talk and cat-fights took centre stage. Recently our source hinted,Nse was accused of bad mouthing Monalisa before a common elderly friend of theirs who in turn spilled the bean to Monalisa who was infuriated and felt used.

On getting home,the source continued,Monalisa sent Nse packing not minding the time of the day.With nowhere to go, Nse moved into Four-point by Sheraton Hotel where she lodged for a couple of days before concerned friends salvaged the situation and she finally got an apartment of her own in Lagos.
