WHITNEY HOUSTON TARGET YANKS OFFENSIVE GREETING CARD
It's still too soon to make Whitney Houston jokes -- at least according to the people at Target, who have decided to pull a greeting card from their shelves that mocks the late singing legend.
The card -- available long before Whitney died -- pokes fun at the singer's downward spiral in recent years ... "Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston."
The card was kinda funny before she died -- but now that Whitney's gone, Target has decided it's a tad too offensive ... at least for now ... and is currently in the process of yanking it from its stores.
A rep for the store tells TMZ, "The card was in our stores prior to Ms. Houston’s death. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we began the process of removing the card from all applicable stores."

THEY FAKED MY DAD'S VOICE ON 'MICHEAL' ALBUM - MICHEAL JACKSON'S KID
Michael Jackson's daughter Paris made a bombshell announcement to friends ... telling them the MJ album released in the wake of the singer's death did NOT contain MJ's actual voice ... it was an imposter.
TMZ has learned ... the announcement was made during an online video chat with several friends in 2008 ... just before the "Michael" album was released, which contains several previously unreleased tracks allegedly performed by Michael Jackson.
The video chat was recorded ... and Paris joked about the footage eventually "leaking" to the Internet.
Paris had made the announcement in the midst of rumors that MJ's parts on the "Michael" album were REALLY performed by an MJ sound-alike named Jason Malachi ... but both Jason and Sony denied the allegations.
During the video chat, Paris played one of the songs from the album, "Hold My Hand" ... and one of her friends asks why the singer doesn't sound like MJ.
Paris replied, "It's NOT him ... the whole album isn't even him!! Go online ... go on YouTube and look up Jason Malachi. That's him!!"
She continues, "I should know if it's him or not because he would sing to me all the time."
TMZ has learned a recording of Paris' video message is being shopped to various media outlets ... and we're told "Offers are on the table."

JA RULE LEAP YEAR BIRTHDAY BEHIND BARS... JA MAICAN PATTIES, ANYONE?
It's the first time in four years Ja Rule can celebrate his real birthday -- February 29th -- but despite being stuck behind bars, Ja won't go hungry ... and we got the rapper's 2,500-calorie prison birthday menu to prove it.
According to the "heart healthy menu" at the NY State prison where Ja is currently serving a two-year sentence for gun possession -- JR can look forward to some delicious corn flakes in the morning, Jamaican patties for lunch, and turkey stew for dinner.
According to the menu, the entire day's worth of food totals between 2,500-2,800 calories -- significantly more than the USDA 2,000 calorie guidelines.
FYI -- we don't know how he did it, but Ja released his 7th studio album yesterday ... all while under lock and key.

PROSECUTOR YOU ARE A DISGRACE, GO TO JAIL - BRUNO MARS
The cracked out Las Vegas District Attorney who prosecuted Bruno Mars and Paris Hilton for cocaine just got 9 months in jail and a public ASS-CHEWING from the judge in his own drug case.
Former Deputy District Attorney David Schubert struck a plea deal with prosecutors after cops say they found $40 worth of crack cocaine and an unregistered pistol in his car last March.
As Schubert hung his head in shame, the judge dished out the 9 month jail sentence ... and then trashed him as a "disgrace to his oath as a prosecutor and a lawyer."
Ironically, neither Hilton nor Mars got one single day in jail in their Vegas cocaine cases.
Schubert has until March 12 to turn himself in so he can begin his sentence.

EXCLUSIVE: HOW TEJU BABYFACE PROPOSED TO FIANCEE TOBI BANJOKO
Popular comedian and MC Teju Babyface and Lagos-based model Tobi Banjoko are engaged.
The couple began dating a few months ago, but have known each other a very long time, according to sources close to the couple.
Tobi was also present at Teju’s late father’s wake keep in Lagos and burial in Oyo State and was reportedly quite active in the burial activities.
‘Yes it’s true. I feel excited’, Banjoko, who was the winner of the Lagos Carnival beauty pageant in 2010, told NET. ‘He likes what I do, I like what he does, and we understand ourselves perfectly’.
Tobi, an undergraduate at Lagos State University, also represented Ondo State at the 2011 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant, where she emerged as Miss Photogenic.
NET has gathered that Teju popped the big question a few weeks ago, on Valentine’s Day, just a few hours before 2face Idibia proposed to his long time love Annie Macauley.
A source close to the couple tells us Teju called Tobi on Valentine’s Day to meet him at the Southern Sun hotel, Ikoyi Lagos. As Tobi made her way into one of the rooms, she was surprised to see that Teju had decorated it with red roses; he then popped the big question, and of course she said yes.
We called up Teju who was quite reluctant to divulge any information. He only said ‘God dey, patience is a virtue’.
No wedding dates have been fixed yet, but the Introduction will be held in a few months, and we’re told the couple will make Teju’s 1004 Apartment their home after they get married.

I DIDN'T 'CHANGE GIRLS GONE WILD' 'CAUSE OF JOE WHATHISNAME - MADONNA
Madonna did NOT change the name of "Girls Gone Wild" because of threats from "Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis -- this according to her manager, Guy Oseary.
Oseary tells TMZ ... he found it laughable that Francis claimed victory after allegedly sending Madonna a cease and desist letter, ordering her not to perform her single "Girls Gone Wild" at the Super Bowl. In fact, Oseary says no one from team Madonna ever received the letter.
As for Madonna changing the name of the song to "Girl Gone Wild," Oseary says they've been tweaking the album for weeks, and decided to make the word "Girl" singular because that's the way Madonna sings it in the song.
Oseary says they have tweaked other titles on the album as well.
And Oseary scoffs at Francis' claim that he owns the title, "Girls Gone Wild," citing a Billboard story that claims there are 50 records called "Girls Gone Wild," including songs by Ludacris, Jagged Edge, T Mills, Lee Kernaghan, Lil Rick and Jackie Kashian.
And finally, Oseary says Madonna doesn't even know who Joe Francis is ... and claims she's completely unaware he's been making threats.
Take that, Joe Francis.

As one family member confided in us, They demanded N20 million and the little we got they rejected. All we saw was that on Saturday,February 18,2012 he was released by his abductors.
The security agencies were at their best in making sure that the septuagenarian was released unhurt as the abducted over 70 years old retired staff of the Nigeria Agip Oil Company(NOAC) regained freedom amidst cheers and praise singing to God for keeping him safe.
In his reaction the abducted Apostle thanked Almighty God for his divine intervention and wondered why kidnappers have resurfaced in the state, especially Port Harcourt city.
To him it is not something one should wish his enemy. I used to think it(kidnapping) is a joke until it has happened to us
The burial arrangement of Agbani Darego’s father has however continued amidst tight security.

BEHOLD: THE NEW BENITA NZERIBE
It will be an understatement to say here that top Nollywood actress Benita Nzeribe has really changed.
This is because she has taken her time to lose all the fat that was gradually introducing her to middle age.
Right now,she appears slimmer and more beautiful.
Going by this method,in no time, the Imo State born actress will be competing with her colleagues who are parading the enviable size 10.
Nzeribe was spotted last week at Surulere area of Lagos looking babyish in her shot pink gown and dark color shoes. Her light skin color radiated so much that it spoke volumes on good maintenance.
However, her close pals revealed to us that this actress no longer makes her big cash from acting but is deeply involved in the politics of her home state where she is occupied with campaigns and other deals.

“I do have a shoe coming out soon but it won’t be Trukfit,” he said. “I have [a] shoe with a well-known company. I just don’t want to say yet because I haven’t dotted the line yet. But it’s done.”
He responded to speculation that the line could be coming out on Supra, but would not confirm. “Nah, it’s not a Nike or Reebok, I can tell you that much,” said Wayne, addressing a possible Supra collaboration. “Uh-oh. Watch out.”

BOW WOW SAYS HE HAD RICK ROSS' "STAY SCHEMIN'" BEAT FIRST
Bow Wow explains how he had the "Stay Schemin'" beat first and says Jahlil is a favorite producer of his.
Bow Wow recently spoke with Tim Westwood regarding his favorite producer and had the chance to explain the story behind the "Stay Schemin'" beat. While "Stay Schemin'" is a Rick Ross track, Bow says he had the instrumental before the MMG boss.
"Jahlil [Beats], hands down right now," he said when asked about "the hottest producers right now." This also gave him the chance to explain the story of how "Stay Schemin'" became a Ross beat.
"[Jahlil's] little brother, The Beat Bully, is the dude who did 'Schemin',' which is crazy because if you look on the blog on YouTube, I had the 'Schemin'' beat first. A lot of people don't know that. Yeah, me and Meek [Mill] was working on it in the studio. I just used the beat just for the webisode series, just to play while me and Meek was in the studio."
After using it for the webisode, The Beat Bully's instrumental landed with Ross, which Bow Wow was surprised about.
"I don't know how it reached back to Ross and them but as soon as I heard it, I just went like this [putting hands on his head]. I called him. I said, 'Yo, you gave that beat to Ross?' He was like, 'I didn't know if you was gonna use it. I thought you just used it for this...' It happens."

POPULAR YORUBA ACTRESS LAIDE BAKARE ESCAPES DEATH IN AUTO CRASH
What could have been another tragedy in the Nigerian movie industry was averted last weekend when popular Yoruba actress, Laide Bakare escaped unhurt in an auto crash.
The accident, during which the actress’ Range Rover SUV with customised registration number L B O, was damaged, occurred in front of Ifo Police Station, Ogun State.
NollywoodReel gathered that the actress was said to be on high speed when a Nissan saloon car, driving out of the Police station rammed into her vehicle. It took the prompt intervention of policemen around to bring the tense situation under control.
Although the driver of the Nissan admitted to being at fault, both automobiles were detained at the Ifo Police Station.
A witness told NollywoodReel that “Laide really has her God to thank because she did not even sustain any injury. I have seen an accident of this nature claim lives before, but I think God is on her side.”
The source further opined that it was the ‘star’ status of the actress that made the jittery Nissan driver admit being at fault.
“He could have claimed otherwise, but I guess it was due to the respect he has for her. Both of them were at fault really because Laide too was on a rather high speed.”
The fact that Laide survived the accident unhurt is no doubt a relief, considering the calamities that have rocked the entertainment industry in recent times.
So far this year, actors like David Ihieze and Iyke Mkpu, one of the Nollywood pioneer actors have died, while famous actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo survived an auto crash which many thanked God did not claim his life.

RAPPER JIM JONES GETS ARRESTED IN CASINO BRAWL
Jim JonesJim Jones was arrested Saturday after a brawl that took place at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut following a party hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs. The rapper was taken to a local police station and released on bond later.
According to state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance, the fight started a little after 2 a.m. Saturday in the foyer of the MGM Grand Hotel following a party that was hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs. A total of five people were charged and one detective was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released, the spokesman added.
An attorney for hip-hop artist Jim Jones declined to comment on the news. However, the 35-year-old New York-based rapper and actor, also known as Capo, took to Twitter to address the incident. "40k in bonds 1 night had a ball let’s see if I can get that 40 back on the crap table," he tweeted after being released from police custody. Jones added later Saturday, "This is getting blown way out of proportion."
It is yet to be determined how the brawl broke out after the party, which was thrown by Combs as part of a 20th anniversary celebration for Foxwoods. However, multiple sources told TMZ.com that a drunken man started insulting Jim Jones before punching him in the face. The rapper allegedly fought back, prompting the man's friends to join in, and then members of Jones' entourage came to his rescue.
It was not the first time Jim Jones, born Joseph Jones, crossed paths with the law. Previously, the “We Fly High” singer made headlines after he was fined $200 for driving his Bentley with a suspended license in New York.
In 2009, Jim Jones was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge for punching one of R&B star Ne-Yo's friends at a Louis Vuitton boutique. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to time served – the few hours he was in custody after turning himself in to police.
Jim Jones, who performs as a part of a Harlem-based rap band, boasts a list of hit tracks including “We Fly High” and “Pop Champagne”. His new album, “Capo”, was released in April.
Apart from a successful music career, Jim Jones also has a T-shirt line. He also appeared in a 2009 play called “Hip-Hop Monologues: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones”, which was based on his life on the road. He recently starred with his girlfriend, Chrissy Lampkin, in the latest season of VH1’s “Love and Hip Hop”.

TAKING A SECOND LOOK AT NIGERIA'S ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
From posh terraces to intricate slums, posters of low-voltage flicks are plastered on walls, bill boards and every other space available.
Since Nollywood, the Nigerian competing equivalent of Hollywood debuted with Living in Bondage in 1992 local film enthusiasts have been inundated with a legion of films. The recurring lacklustre of the Hollywood-style pizzazz by the Nollywood lot, has also been a major let down.
The high-volume production of these videos has seen film premieres to the gallows and heightened possibilities of alarming piracy with equal gusto, just as the movies, produced and released on a daily basis, have earned the industry the number two slot on the list of the biggest movie spinners in the world (only behind India’s Bollywood).
The cast of a movie can be assembled in a matter of weeks. The production crew, costumiers and other departments can come in a jiffy and the lights would click away, reeling out a movie for Iweka Road, Alaba International, and other movie markets in the country.
Though the movie industry has gained applause with productions like ‘Living in Bondage’ by Kenneth Nnebue, ‘Magun’ and ‘Maami’ by Tunde Kelani(the latter scheduled for release this month) and other films produced by, Amaka Igwe and Jeta Amata, the many afflictions of the film business in the nation remain palpable.
Nollywood has assumed a vertical growth since the 50s. But there is no auteur (producer with grasp) in sight, and the bulk of the directors, producers and cast lack the intelligence and imagination to ad lib or improvise.
Flashes of thespian propriety have come from relatively accomplished actors like Stephanie Okereke, Jeta Amata and few others, but a lot remains undone.
Popular actor and theatre teacher, Dr. Sola Fasudo has criticised the industry as being all about money and not quality.
“Home movie in Nigeria has been bastardised. They produce movies every week, which is not supposed to be. They have turned it to money making business. And because of their selfish means of trying to make money, they feel they can keep producing more films so that they can make enough money, but they have made people give us all sorts of names abroad. We don’t know where we are going in this country”, he lamented.
The old theater warlock added that: “The problem is that people are not ready to learn, so someone would just wake up one morning and say he wants to be an actor. Then the next step is for him to look for where they are doing audition and attend”.
According to him, “Even if you have the talent, you still have to go and learn it. You need to go to school, because you need to put some finishing touches to the talent to make it more solid”.
The trained actor, says he prefers “being in soap operas, because that is where you can breed yourself to be a good actor, not all those road side people they put in films and start calling themselves actors”.
The failure of a typical Nollywood flick starts from the costume and permeates the entire production.
Lighting as a theatre or drama technique is yet to be mastered by the production cadre of the industry. The same goes for interpretation of scripts, speech, body manipulation, improvisation and adaptation.
Most Nollywood directors and producers cannot interpret scripts. They even make shoddier jobs of adapting a novel or play, except in cases where such works were handled or supervised by masters like Prof. Femi Osofisan, a playwright and foremost dramatist.
Tunde Kelani, one of the very few good heads thriving in the Yoruba film genre, has for example made a great service to Osofisan’s ‘Maami’, which is on the verge of release in theatres. But such good productions are too few in the industry for comfort.
A movie on Aba Women Protest of 1929 is a good example of how shoddy Nigerian producers can be. The setting was that of 1970s South-eastern Nigeria, the costume was the costume of the 90s and every other thing else in the movie did not reflect 1929.
The diachronic adaptations of thousands of scripts for Nigerian movies have failed flat on their faces. Epic movies, evade historical essence and substance for drama and voodoo.
The 1990s Amadioha, an Igbo epic movie, was a breakthrough on action, suspense and aesthetics, but a befitting and thorough-going narrative of the story of the Igbo legendary warrior and deity of thunder was virtually missing.
In modern theatre productions the adaptation of novels, stories or plays goes for accuracy as best as it can get. In cases where accuracy is not achieved in that sense, the producer must conscientiously and intelligently review the narrative, not to distort certain diachronic essentials, but to achieve a desirable purpose for the audience.
The Gladiator (2000), a multiple award-winning movie by Ridley Scott and The Fall of the Roman Empire are examples of purposefully embellished movie adaptations.
Both movies adopt the plot that Marcus Aurelius, who ruled Rome from 161AD to 180AD was murdered by his son on revealing that his succession will go to Maximus, a general in the Army.
Besides the purposeful adaptive twist in the fate of the historical Emperor Aurelius, the costumes, dialogue, action are accurate and in tune with the era in which the Emperor and his beguiling adoptive General-son, Maximus reigned.
After more than 50 years of Theatre in Nigeria, just a handful of mainstream movie productions have been able to meet the basic requirements for adaptations.
There are even fewer cases of these productions improvising in the expert mode of Late Professor Sonny Oti’s The Pioneers (1976).
In too many Nigerian cases, that style of adaptation is not common. Not even the basic rules for adaptation are there.
A few adaptive works have managed to breast the tape. One of a few of such is the British-Nigerian movie co-directed by Jeta Amata.
The movie, which is based on the slave exploits of the British in Nigeria, managed to garner its modest success, because of the directorial prowess and thoroughness of Amata and a horde of other thoroughly professional production crew.
Even low-budget flicks have had run-away successes. Nollywood may be bigger than Hollywood and Bollywood put together, but may still be derided by the bigger part of the film world that is a stickler for details, quality and meaningful growth.
The vain flattery around town that Nollywood is the fastest-growing movie industry in the world, only next to Bollywood, is not helpful. The traders and businessmen in garbs of movie directors, producers, script writers and actors, must lean back and come up with better ideas.
Some estimates have it that Nollywood is worth $6billion every year. Other ‘Woods’ have no such ready annual estimates. But I guess that is not what matters to them.
Another problem with the Nigerian film industry is that of a lack of talent synergy.
The Yoruba genre of Nollywood as a matter of fact, has more talented directors and in most cases actors; it does not, however wash them clean of occasional dismal showing.
But the Nollywood mainstream largely controlled by the Igbo-Niger Delta axis is worse. Besides lacking in good actors and good producers, it has chosen, as if out of spite, some sort of contrived airs of competence.
There is the Kannywood variant, taken from Kano State of Nigeria that is worrisomely base and dismal.
Their jarring mimicry of Bollywood in Kannywood, goes as far as wholesale copying of the culture of the Asian film sector. The whole kannywood ouvre is buried in Indian ways from choreography to song.
The ignorant disconnect is that: The art of choreography, besides it being alien to the culture of the Habe(Hausawa), or to be specific the Kanawa(the peoples of Kano), cannot take that form in Nigerian theatre setting. Of all film industry variants in Nigeria, Kannywood is the worst.
Low-budgeting is not quite the problem. Many good directors have made good films with little budgets.
Another sour point in the Nigerian film business is dialogue. Here, actors besides being terrible in speech rendition do not believe that a speech should tally the occasion or the era in which the movie is based—diachronic adaptation in the film business, means adapting to time, culture and speech of the era in which a particular project is based..
If the speech pattern, diction or vocabulary of a cast in a movie that seeks to adopt a story set in 1960 reflects the vocabulary of the 21st century Nigeria, then the director would have failed.
The music industry in comparison to the movie industry has however, made a lot of progress.
Almost all music genres in Nigeria, have achieved international acclaim. The Nigerian music industry has been rated as having one of the most advanced recording technologies in the world.
Composers of different genres, from Apala, Afro Juju, Fuji, Swange and the various genres across Nigeria have hit gold with high international accolades and ratings.
The music industry has even produced a three-time Grammy nominee, Femi Kuti. His father, Fela Kuti was one of Africa’s greatest music exports. The music production cadre also boasts of production companies like Chocolate City.
Chocolate City is the first Nigerian music company to attain a global music award and recognition by the British Council in 2007. Its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Audu Maikori won the international music Entrepreneur of the Year award the same year.
Reuters international later produced a documentary on the success of Chocolate City titled: “Music and Money”, in recognition of the company’s contribution to the development of the Nigerian music industry. One of the rappers on Chocolate label later represented Nigeria on a tour of the United Kingdom and Africa from 2007-2008.
Tuface Idibia remains one of the best ever in Africa with several hits and awards on his belt.
Another music production company that has gained recognition globally is Kennis Music, and Mo’Hits records that is now collaborating with G.O.O.D Music owned by Kanye West.
The development of the two has not been even. In the 1960s , while the Theatre industry with its different genres, or strictly speaking the drama industry was trying to pick up, the likes of Rex Lawson, a Highlife maestro in the Niger Delta and later the likes of Fela were firmly on the international stage.
Theatre exports from Nigeria that managed a global stage came from Prof. Wole Soyinka and very few others like the Late Prof. Ola Rotimi.
The music industry outperforms all genres of theatre in Nigeria put together in terms of international rating.
The music industry, unlike its sister film industry has aimed at inventing and multiplying genres of music, as opposed to aping foreign counterparts. Since 1930s, each region or ethnic group has continued to give birth to a multiple of music types that have made great impact in their individual rights.
In cases where foreign genres were adopted, the music industry players have managed to infuse such genres with local derivatives and given them new aural effects.
Besides being very high on rhythm to match the digital tradition of the 21st Century, recent Nigerian music has also played great roles in exporting different Nigerian slang or versions of the English language to the global stage.

WHY WAS CALIFORNIA VOTED THE MOST HATED STATE IN LATEST POLL?
Yesterday California was voted by Public Policy Polling to be the most hated state, according to a February 23, 2012 Huffington Post report, "California Most Hated State, According To Recent Poll (PHOTOS)."
After living here since the 1960s, I wonder whether it could be the heavy traffic, air pollution, or the high tax levied on part-time home-based independent contractors of every nature from artists and poets to repair technicians and handymen, gift-wrappers and home organizers, salespersons, tutors, musicians, and web designers or anyone trying to make ends meet. Perhaps California isn't able to compete with the high-paying jobs in North Dakota since oil was found there?
Hawaii is the most expensive state to live in if you're trying to buy a home or looking for affordable rent in safe neighborhoods for families and school kids, but Hawaii was voted the most liked and California the most hated.
The idea of California polled as the most hated state could be related to the fact that most elite school graduates in California tend to live either in the Bay area near San Francisco or near the Silicon Valley area around San Jose, with few elite college grads living in Los Angeles (around 5 percent) compared to most living in the Northeast Boston area or New York and its suburbns.
The results of a national poll by Public Policy Polling about the popularity of each state in the country revealed that the most disliked state in the nation: California. And to top that news, just five states in the country were in the negative territory, including Utah (24 percent of people polled found the state favorable and 27 percent found it unfavorable), Mississippi (22-28), New Jersey (25-32), Illinois (19-29) and California with a whopping 44 percent of those polled viewing the state unfavorably. Only 27 percent of those polled viewed California favorably, and 29 percent had no opinion, according to the Huffington Post article. (Click on the Huffington Post article to see all of the results here.)
Guess who ranked California at the bottom? The Republicans, who according to the polls, noted they 'hate' California. But women and the Democrats ranked California higher. Everyone seemed to vote Hawaii as the most beloved state. The second most liked state was colorful Colorado. Third was Tennessee. Fourth was South Dakota and fifth focused on Virginia.
As the count down went down, each state was ranked lower and lower as far as being liked with California at the bottom of the list, hated like yesterday's discarded leftovers.
Why hate those redwoods? Is it the earthquake predictions that keep coming up on those night time radio shows featuring psychics and scientists? Or is it the hot weather in summer or mild weather in winder?
California is the fifth largest supplier of food to the world. One would think that living in New York on a tiny budget would rank low considering how tiny affordable apartments are these days. Out of 50 states, California ranked last liked. Maybe people are jealous they couldn't all find jobs when they were young and ran off to Hollywood.
Or perhaps the traffic and road rage figured in the poll to some extent. Surprisingly, the rudeness of New York subways didn't sway the polled people over the road rage of California freeways. Or could it be the lack of jobs in California compared to the boom in jobs since oil was found in N. Dakota? See, "Oil boom brings high-paying jobs to North Dakota - Sep. 28, 2011."

NICKI MINAJ COVERS VIBE MARCH 2012
With just over a month until the release of her much-awaited sophomore album, Nicki Minaj continues to grab up the spotlight - with her efforts recently finding her garner cover duties for the March 2012 issue of Vibe.
The "Roman's Holiday" hitmaker showed off her unique style while decked out in a Marchesa Crown dress and Marianna's jewelry for the Erik Ian shot front page.
Meanwhile, highlights from Miss Minaj's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Vibe!
On what has provided her so much confidence:
"I don't know, probably a collection of different things. I couldn't really sum it up into one thing. I just know that I'm having a lot more fun this time."
On being a perfectionist while trying to meet a deadline:
"Actually, I'm writing 10 times quicker than I wrote on the first album because I'm a lot more confident in who I am. We've just been trying to piece things so that the album comes out at the right time. The music is pretty much done, but we may hold the album back a bit so that things are done perfectly as opposed to being rushed, in terms of promotion."
On trying to get her way in the music industry as a woman:
“It’s not hard to get your way when it’s your way or the highway. People either follow suit or they’re not around. I don’t really like the sound of that, ‘cause that sounds like a temper tantrum. I’m just very black and white when it comes to my business. There’s really no gray area. I really don’t have a lot of small talk with people I work with. It’s pretty much let’s get the job done.”
On staying aggressive without worrying about hurting people's feelings:
"I find that people in this business who walk around getting their feelings hurt don't deserve to be in the business. So I really don't lose sleep over it. The people I work with the best are people who understand that there are gonna be moments in this game where an artist is probably going to passionately expressed themselves and those things shouldn't be taken personal. I think when people understand that, they'll never get their feelings hurt. And on the other side of that, I am very sensitive to people's feelings. So if I see I'm hurting someone's feelings by being straight up, I would rather not work with them."

WHITNEY HOUSTON BIOPIC: RIHANNA FRONTRUNNER TO PLAY THE LATE SINGER
Singer Whitney Houston who passed away recently, is soon to be immortalized on screen in the form of her biopic. The grapevine is already buzzing with news as to who will star in the movie chronicling the legendary singer’s life.
As per sources just before Whitney passed away, the pop icon was ready to tell her life through a biopic. According to AOL Music, Actress Meagan Good (30) was in contention for the role and is said to have been in talks with Whitney Houston. The actress even had a meeting scheduled for this month to discuss the project; however, with the pop icon’s premature death on Feb 11, the film never left the planning stage.
With the project revived again, according to reports, some of Hollywood’s top female artistes are said to be in the running to bag this project. However, a new front-runner appears to be emerging, barely a few days after Whitney's funeral. It is none other than singer/actress Rihanna. After her role in Battleship, Rihanna is said to be on the shortlist of actresses who is in mind to portray the late legend, Whitney Houston.
Clive Davis, Whitney’s record label chief and close pal is heading the project. Reportedly he wants the script finalized as early as possible, so that the shooting can commence immediately. Along with 24-year old Rihanna in the running for the main lead in the biopic are other actresses.
These include Vivica Fox (47), American Idol singer 22-year old Jordin Sparks and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson (30) who gave a moving musical tribute to Whitney at the Grammys the day following her death. Also, 11-year old daughter of Will Smith, Willow is rumored to be considered to portray the role of Whitney as a child.
Movie executives are hoping Rihanna will sign on the dotted line for the film. The reason for their trepidation is that the ‘Talk That Talk’ singer had just last year rejected the opportunity to remake Houston's The Bodyguard.
Rihanna has been quoted in OK! Magazine as saying: 'I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me.'
Be that may, whichever actress immortalizes Whitney on celluloid, will be under immense pressure to make her character come alive on screen for posterity. By the way do you think the wound is still too raw to be planning casting for Whitney's biopic movie? Look forward to your comments.
